This could be fun. I liked The Phantom Reporter as penned by JMS. (Hopefully, we’ll see the end of The Twelve some day.)

  2. I don’t have it in my hands but look at that cover! I think I’m going to need to sit down right now…

  3. ActualButt ActualButt says:

That cover kinda sucks. As have most of the covers for these specials. For some reason, my LCS hasn’t been getting the Marcos Martin variants.

  4. @ActualButt: Saaaaayyyyy what?

    How is this cover ‘sucky’?

  5. Great issue of the Phantom Reporter. He’s a Phantom clone for the most part but Liss made him really interesting. Plus the art by Armstrong and the colors by Staples made this a great look book.

  6. kwisdumb kwisdumb says:

I thought this was pretty average. I think it’s main downfall was that it was very long-winded, or at least it seemed that way to me. Not bad, just completely uninteresting. 2/5.

  7. PraxJarvin PraxJarvin says:

Overly wordy for no apparent reason, mediocre art. 3/5 for me.

  8. Noto Noto says:

It was overly wordy for a reason. It’s a pulp story. It needed the noir-language. Loved it. 4/5

  9. PraxJarvin PraxJarvin says:

@Noto In my experience Noir is light on dialogue, but what dialogue there is punchy, theoretical and important. This was verbose without adding anything to the story. It’s tough to slough through that much hackneyed dialogue when it’s not purposive. As well, the Phantom and Doc Samson reprints don’t come off as this wordy.
