  1. I am loving this series so much. Sad its going to close soon. I wonder if its really a replacement or if its some kind of twist and its really Matt XD

  2. I feel like most readers have collectively decided that this is going to be an exteptionally good story and are trade-waiting. It’s been tough. But I am SO excited to dive into this.

Bendis is writing 5-6 AWESOME books a month right now. Many (myself included) didn’t love much or most of his Avengers work in recent years, but it is INSANE that a writer this prolific and altogether talented can be overlooked by some of those who also didn’t care for his Avengers work.

Going to be spending a LOT of money on some of his books in the next few months as this and more of his work are released as hardcovers!

    • If everything you write feels the same, and every character talks in the same voice, there’s not much weight to the word prolific. I feel like his voice hasn’t changed since his earlier, amazing work, but its just dropped down in intelligence and inventiveness. Over-time, New Avengers and Ultimate Spider-man killed Bendis. I feel like nowadays he saves his best-written stuff for Alex Maleev (Scarlet, Moon Knight, even Spider-Woman). And End of Days was written during Brubaker’s DD run. So…it was obviously before the flame went out.

And I do feel he’s able to light up again from time to time. But the overall quality of his entire output is really skewed to one side.

  3. This series has been awesome so far. That talk with the Punisher allowed me to accept the incredibility of Matt influencing all those women to have his kids. DD’s like, “Hey Typhoid, we’d make the most insane children ever together, I’m leaving that part of my legacy with you.” Elektra: Best ninja child ever. Mila: Upstanding asshole who will become a doctor or lawyer. Echo: Only in the book because of David Mack, who probably thought the whole “lots of kids” thing was a dumb idea.

  4. I don’t really read much DD, and picked this up on a whim, and because of the names attached. I am so glad I did. Such a fantastic book.

  5. Every issue of this has been incredible. Every issue has been eerie. When this story is complete and released as a whole, it’s gonna be on or near the top of the DD GN list. I’d say it’s second only to Born Again.

  6. It’s hard to discuss this without giving away the spoilers. Let’s just say it features The Owl, The Purple Man, The Punisher, Ben Urich’s son, and yes, even Daredevil in one form or another. There’s an homage to a classic piece of comic art history and a discussion of what heroes do and don’t do. Looks like this is going to be a great graphic novel when it all gets collected.

  7. Sigh I know everyone is loving this…and I did too at first. But I somehow feel like it’s dragging a bit…maybe partially because Ben doesn’t seem to be getting anywhere in his investigation! Maybe it’ll be better to me when I reread once the whole story is done…

  8. **********************************SPOILER BLOCK************************************************

So I guess The Purple Man doesn’t get to tell Frank Castle what to do huh? The last scene was great, as was the whole issue. Ben is really getting into a bit of predicament now isn’t he? I’ve really enjoyed every issue of this series, and I agree with those above that it will be deemed a modern classic as long as it sticks the landing. The Sienkiewicz splashes are gorgeous, and Janson is doing a wonderful job with the rest. I can’t wait for more, but I don’t want it to end, great problem to have.

  9. I love this series and I loved this issue. It takes a lot to make me utter “wow” at a finale.

By the way: Natasha? Hope that bath works out for you…..next issue maybe? Or did someone rip some pages out of my book?
