@ Sammy, I’ve been reading this in issues the whole time and have really enjoyed it. Defin. not for everyone but it has a very cool vibe to it.

@edward Curious, that’s not how I would have called it, but to each their own. Can I ask what brings you to that conclusion?

My friend had been reading the single issues and pushing me to get on it. This seemed like the perfect opportunity. I had read the free preview and wasn’t very impressed, but my friend has discerning taste, so.

I loved this series. It’s fun, light and has a pretty interesting storyline.  I will admit, it didn’t "click" for me until Issue 5. It had this fun, randomness to it that I really enjoyed. And the cliffhanger got a smile from me.

I also picked up Issue #7, see my comments for that there!

Why didn’t like Air by Edward Doherty

I did not like the comic book Air because it seemed to be a very contrived, trite effort to create an on-going comic for a younger female audience. I don’t mean that the comic feature a young female lead character but because the comic attempted to appropriate the “magical-realism” style of storytelling made popular by prose authors like Zadie Smith or Jonathan Safran Foer. It was a clear attempt to ape this style but was done with less success and less intelligence.

But forget that, who cares if a new comic wants to mimic a certain style? Ultimately, it’s like what you said. It didn’t click. I didn’t care about the characters, I found the stereotypical best friend/air attendant/gay man character to be really difficult to stomach. The story made little sense. The art was sub-par….. I didn’t like it

It definitely only got interesting to me in the last issue, but I’m not sure I’ll be picking up the next trade.  It just isn’t my thing, but if I hear it gets better, I’ll give it another go.
