That Gene Colan piece is incredible!

  2. I miss Gene Colan already :(

I know I said it in the Week in Panels thread, but Chris Samnee’s art looks a lot like Matt Wagner. Love it!

can we please get a Skottie Young Muppets book? pretty please?

  3. cubman987 cubman987 says:

Wow, hard to pick a favorite out of this group…..great stuff.

  4. SpiderTitan SpiderTitan says:

I love Game of Thrones! Also Chris Samnee on Captain America has been a dream come true!

  5. pyynk pyynk says:

Judging by the hat and those slabbed books (the blasphemy!), I think the Tony Moore sketch is a Marvel zombie.

Since Miller isn’t doing Sin City anymore, can Mike Hawthorne takeover?

  6. Damn, Ryan Ottley draws the craziest things.

  7. diebenny diebenny says:

I love the timing of this column and the sketches.  We just got the goodbye Oracle sketch, and now this Conner Kent one.  Goodbye jeans and t-shirt superboy!

  8. lifesend lifesend says:

That Colan piece is gorgeous.  Love Hawthorne’s Bride, too.

  9. Andrew Andrew says:

Man, I love this weekly feature so much! Such a treat.

  10. Zombie Nerd is disturbing….and awesome.

  11. stuclach stuclach says:

    Wow. Gene Colan. Wow.

  12. Xeno Xeno says:

Phil Noto is so on top of my fave artist list because of that Tyrion art!

  13. vadamowens vadamowens says:

    @Xeno agreed

  14. half a boobie…………..epic

  15. ccarney ccarney says:

To quote Booger in Revenge of the Nerds, ” We have bush, we have bush!”

That Gene Colon is EPIC and zombie geek is very neat.

  16. onetone onetone says:

That small pic doesn’t do Ottley justice.

  17. Josh Flanagan josh (@jaflanagan) says:

@onetone  It really doesn’t. Click on the link to his site and check out the full one. I just have a size format for this piece, and I try to stick with it.

  18. ericmci ericmci says:

The scene and emotion in Chantler’s Superboy moment is tough to beat.

But the way Noto has with drawing women comes pretty close.

  19. POPEvonDOOM POPEvonDOOM says:

R.I.P Gene, thanks for the years of amazing u work.

  20. Jediaxle Jediaxle says:

That Gene Colon one is perfect.  Miss him already.

  21. See now that is a great sketch by Eric Canete.

Why his interior work can’t look like that more often is a mystery to me.

  22. anyone else notice how the Gene Colon Hercules looks strangely like Peter Dinklage the actor who plays Tyrion Lannister? Only…bigger?

  23. JSAkid JSAkid says:

The angle on Colon’s Thor/Herc is timeless and is a prime example of classic comix sketching withe depth perception, its amazing how talented and diverse artists there are in the medium.
