  1. Super-great sketchup this week. I love Jay Garrick and that Optimus Prime is awesome.

  2. Wow I love that Batman by Epting, very cool. And I’m totally unfamiliar with Reilly Brown and Amancay Nahuelpan but those are two great pieces of art. I have to look those two folks up…

  3. Oh yea and the Jay Garrick was amazing!

  4. What a great sense of speed in that flash piece.

  5. Damn. Evan’s work is always so distilled and beautiful. I’ve been a huge fan of his cartooning, but, that Chinatown drawing is sublime!

  6. I want that Jay Garrick piece, very dynamic!

  7. These weekly sketch ups just keep getting better and better. I really want that Ramones one.

  8. I really like the Flash and Optimus Prime pieces. Exceptional.

  9. Cinar & Epting – wow, just…wow.

  10. the polaroid of jesus in the bottom right corner of that phillip bond drawing looks very surprised by the presence of a naked woman.

i suppose that makes some sense. y’know, for jesus…

  11. That Flash piece is great. Plus Chinatown is a personal fave and that Shaner sketch is fantastic

  12. Jay Garrick by Yildiray Cinar for the wiin

  13. Wow, that Jay Garrick piece is perfect.

The Batman is like an evolution of Neal Adams work (reference current Word Balloon). And the Philip Bond kept me doing quick scrolls back (eventhough I am in the office). Big Ups for Chinatown and Jay Garrick… mind blowing. Would Love to see that blown up large.

  15. That Jay Garrick sketch is awesome.

  16. Captain America vs. The Thing by Reilly Brown – Super dynamic and very clean. Love this!

Optimus Prime by Tyler Champion – Modern take on Optimus that still actually LOOKS like him.

The Ramones by Brent Schoonover – Hey, ho!

Jay Garrick by Yildiray Cinar – This is pure awesome! I love this.

Another Noto-less week? For shame! Check out his Matt Murdock and Elektra sketch… another classic “casual day in the life” piece: http://philnoto.tumblr.com/post/18612031528/matt-murdock-and-elektra-natchios-malta-1983

  17. Cinar’s Flash and Epting’s Batman get my vote as well.

When I clicked on the article, I thought the Spirit sketch was a Mad Men sketch. Sad WheelHands. Guess I’ve got it on the brain (moreso than usual). 23 days, mothafuckas!

  18. Wow, this might be the best Weekly Sketch Up i’ve ever seen. Every time I scrolled down to a new print I would say “WOW” outloud.

  19. The Steve Epting Batman pic is my new desktop picture. And between his sketch work here and his run on Firestorm, Yildiray Cinar is becoming one of my favorite artists

  20. Anything involving Jay Garrick is a good thing.

    Also, Epting on Batman now!!!

  21. DC needs to bring back the JSA stat!!

  22. “Robo Shark” and “Naked” remind me of, and make me think of what I want the future to look like; equal parts.

  23. Theres something really spectacular about the Spirit by Nahuelpan.
I also really like the Cap VS Thing, I love the placement of the panel.

I love the “Weekly Sketch Up” ! Without a doubt one of the greatest parts of comimg to IFANBOY. Cap vs Thing is Awsome. Mason Savoy by Skottie Young is perfect and Jay Garrick by Yildiray Cinar should be in a frame in my office! But Batman by Steve Epting really takes the cake!
