VIDEO: BATMAN LIVE Dances With the Devil in the Pale Moonlight

We hope you're sitting down. Even if you're Joel Schumacher. In which case we assume your chair is neon periwinkle and furry.

Batman Live is live. And it's coming. There's little you can do to stop it. Watch now as Batman attempts rescue Marty McFly from the Joker and his motley crew of…tumblers.

I see Batman: Bollywood coming next.

  7. IroncladMerc says:

Is that really Marty McFly though? That is a Universal property and Batman is WB, so how can that crossover happen?

Looks like a pretty good show if it was in a theme park for free. It’s about that level of performance.

Also, if it’s a world arena tour, why only dates in the UK?  When’s it coming to North America?

  8. Paul Montgomery PaulMontgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

    It was a joke.

  9. CaseyJustice CaseyJustice says:

Y’know when you see something and you realize that, without even knowing that it existed, you have always longed for it, deep within yourself? I never knew how empty my life had been until I saw those people come out of the Joker’s giant head.

  12. bobby2889 says:

Its not even that its poor Batman its more that it is poor stage action and coreography. The actors just are not coming across as honed in the art in anyway (they shift on their feet, the golden rule of theatre is every motion has to be in character and justified and if it is in role then it has to be grand. Little shifts to reposition themselves or whatever just break the already flimsy fourth wall). The coreography is one thing in terms of campness and out of characterness but as for theatre fight scenes its a major shame someone better didnt handle.

  13. boosebaster boosebaster says:

I believe that all the actors and performers were amateurs picked from the public. I think so anyway.

If this doesn’t kill the comic book musical craze, I’ll pay good money to see what does.

  15. Saltyoldnavy says:

is it me or did the joker sound like ivan ooze from the power rangers movie?

  16. ccarney ccarney says:

It looked fun. The Jokers teeth were people!

  17. WheelHands WheelHands says:

I made it to 1:39. Then I started having flashbacks. I coulda done without this Paul.

  18. kennyg kennyg says:

“Wait. Wait. Let me unhook my safety lines. Just a sec… When I get unhooked, I’m gonna kick some ass. In just a minute…”

Awkward. Bad choreography, bad fight choreography, cheesy. Bad!

Poor Batman. “So let me get this straight. I make my big entrance, then stand here looking like a tool while some ex-cheerleaders and “Stomp” rejects do their thing?”

The audio track must be pre-recorded. The mouths were more out of synch than a dubbed anime episode.

  19. y2kkev y2kkev says:

That’s not Marty, Paul! It’s Captain N from the old Nintendo cartoons. Anyway, Batman is really good at the karates and stuff.

  20. FoeApple FoeApple says:

The entrance for the joker was kinda fun. There were no laughs though. why dont you laugh joker?!

  21. edward edward says:

it’s the best kind of Threatre of the Absurd, the kind that really questioned the nature of existence

  22. kennyg kennyg says:

Was this video shot at a rehearsal? I didn’t hear any applause, laughs, cheers… nothing. It didn’t sounds like a direct feed off the board, so if there was an audience I would expect some kind of reaction. Unless it’s… really that crappy…

  23. optic00085 optic00085 says:

Kind of reminds me of a Batman-themed water stunt show at Marine World in Vallejo………Except the water stunt show was better……………..Yeesh.

  24. reg5000 reg5000 says:

Well I can finally say that this isn’t for me.

  25. cromulent cromulent says:

But how awesome would it be if it was a Batman/Back to the Future crossover show?

  26. Matrix Matrix says:

I kept saying “batman, why are you letting yourself get outnumbered like that. stop letting those clowns out of joker’s head!”. then i realised this was clooney batman and it was pointless.

  27. thepowerout thepowerout says:

this isn’t like ‘turn off the dark’, i’m pretty sure this is meant to be directed solely at 6 yr olds, who won’t really give a shit about the poor acting/choreography, they’ll just go bat shit crazy for batman zipping around in the air and beating up back-up dancers?

  28. ericmci ericmci says:

yup- Just as bad as it looked like it would be.

And powerout- this was billed as an experience for the whole family

So if it looks like Barney- that just underscpres how craptastic it is.

B/c honestly- you can only family proof a character whos parents are brutally murdered and psyhcoticaly devotes his life to avenging their deaths so much?
