TRAILER: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

I’ve got a feeling that the comics audience here isn’t going to mind a place to watch and discuss this new trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

I can’t speak to the psyched-ness of my colleagues here, but I am beyond excited to see this, and these are not the kinds of words I am prone to saying about a movie trailer. Like the last movies, I hold out hope that these movies will lead to more genre diversification in mainstream comics. But even if not, it’s Gandalf!

Comments

  1. Is it wrong if me and my fiancee agreed we are both a little more excited for this than our upcoming nuptials. And we are pretty darn excited for them lol

  2. Is this still going to be two movies? A there and a back again of sorts? The first ending with Smog and the second with the Battle of Evermore?

  3. I don’t know exactly where the split comes but it will be two movies…

  4. It’s allllll about Gollum in the end. Can. Not. Wait.

  5. I’m all a-tingle.

  6. Very excited for this, the Hobbit has been one of my favorite books since I was a kid, it will be very cool to see it on the big screen.

  7. This will be perfect! Great to see Gandalf and the Shire again.

  8. As a huge fan of the book I have full confidence in Peter Jackson. I think the casting of Martin Freeman as Bilbo is spot on. I like that this movie seems to have a much less brooding overtone than the LotR trilogy and that there seems to be jokes that aren’t just at the expense of Dwarves. I can’t wait for this movie, though I thought it was being split into two parts.

  9. Ya lets hope.. these kinds of movies give people an excuse to create and purchase more non superhero comics… A few years back.. this might sound cheesy.. but i gave all my friends a fellowship leaf for christmas.. Hey.. screw you.. It was cool to me.. HA…

  10. perfect antidote to Grimm and gritty or brainless Hollywood blockbusters.

  11. Wow. Just…. wow. I can’t wait.

  12. Well, I just got a bit more excited for that.

  13. Psyched…I wants it now Bagginssssss!

  14. Martin Freeman is the most likeable person on the planet

  15. Wow! I can’t say how excited I am for this. I was hoping we would get see Smog in this trailer but this is just the first teaser.

  16. you know what i’m excited for? the trolls. that scene in the book is nothing but awesome.

  17. It’s funny. I never was a fan of the LOTR books but I love the movies. I could just never get into the books but god damn if Peter Jackson didn’t help my cause into being a filmmaker with the films.

But I did love reading the Hobbit, probably because it’s easier to understand, and this trailer makes me excited for next year.

    • I wouldn’t say it’s easier to understand. The Hobbit is just a lighter-toned story. The LOTR books, although awesome, had some really bleak stretches throughout.

  18. Anyone wanna bet how many times Josh will see this? I say 12.

Still, I’m excited. I also am happy since it will be a lighter story than the Lord of the Rings.

  19. Lord of the Rings is one of those properties that I just can’t seem to care about.

  20. Loving the fact that they have rebuilt Hobbiton in Matamata and that it will be staying there after the movie wraps for tourists and fans to check out. The video blogs from the set are awesome too, if you’ve missed them, here they are so far 🙂
