Trailer: Iron Man 3

No one experiences post traumatic stress quite like Tony Stark, but as today’s all new Iron Man 3 trailer demonstrates, Tin-Head’s got far scarier things to worry about than night terrors.

Let’s have a look.

Some things of note:

  • That’s a lot of armor.
  • Ben Kingsley could go either way with a performance as esoteric as Tom Hardy’s Bane.
  • That plush bunny is enormous. Could someone be hiding in there?
  • Do you think Pepper might end up in her own armor? That moment in her skivvies makes us wonder.
  • Rhodey as Iron Patriot makes a hell of a lot more sense than Norman in that guise. Context is everything, but still.
  • Do you think he’d rather be friends with Cap? How much of a presence do you think Tony’s Avengers membership will have? Aside from the night terrors?
  • That is a lot of armor.

  1. Wow. This looks great. I wonder what the running time will be, though, as it seems like an awful lot of story there, based on what we know.

  2. Whee!

  3. Looks great! Going to be really cool to see all those different suits. Looking at that scene where different people are being put on gurneys, is Extremis not going to be exclusive to Tony?

  4. This looks really great, and I’m very excited, but I am a little concerned by the stuff at the end. A whole bunch of Iron Men might be a bit too much – doesn’t it dilute the peril of the hero somewhat? I guess we’ll see how this element is used.

  5. I like when he is being interviewed it reminds me of the first iron man in some way.

  6. Aaaassssss yea

  7. Wow I am impressed, it looks awesome!

  8. Does the Mandarin have a tattoo of Captain America’s shield on the back of his neck? (00:45)

  9. I can’t be worse than IM 2, right?

  10. Definitely had an AW YEAH moment. Can’t wait.

  11. OK, I’m excited.

  12. Anyone who hasn’t viewed the “extended look ad’ on the official Iron Man 3 site (http://marvel.com/ironman3) should head over there and give it a look. I laughed out loud. It is what it says it is.

Also, this trailer seems nice. I’m looking forward to the film.

  13. OMG OMG OMG. Now I am freaking PUMPED! Hulkbuster armor! The possibility of Pepper donning the Rescue armor! Extremis! Bring this movie on.

This looks very promising. I think it’s good that they’re focusing on one villain this time. From the trailer, it seems like we’ll get to see more of Stark and Rhodey’s friendship (which IM2 lacked). I want to see them working together, not fighting in a boxing ring. The threat looks a lot more serious than in IM1 and 2 as well. I’m excited for this

  15. SQEEEE! I love when a fleet of Iron Men armors show up…

  16. This looks amazing… I CAN’T WAIT!!!!

  17. Hmm… I usually love Ben Kingsley, but his delivery seems off. Guess we’ll have to wait and see how they explain Mandarin in the story. He doesn’t have much of an accent, wonder if he could be an American who turned?

Are they running an Extremis experiment on those six restrained individuals?

  18. MAN OF STEEL.

  19. I think Pepper is gonna die. I wouldn’t be too torn up if they killed Rhodey too. Too many armors does dilute what makes Tony unique, and worthy of our attention. (But Extremis solves that issue)

  20. Looks great… 2 months to go right?

  21. Very awesome trailer. I’m really excited for this one.

  22. I am a little perturbed that Marvel appears to be sanding all of the rough edges off of comic stories in order to make the movies more “family friendly.” For instance, Tony is no longer a womanizer, but in love with Pepper, and War Machine has become nicer, safer sounding, Iron Patriot.

    • I’m not sure that I agree that the changes are in favor of “family friendly-izing” the brand. Tony’s relationship with Pepper is more of a character evolution than a gimmick, IMO.

  23. Lets do this.

    Once more, with feeling.

  24. They really are going for the Bane approach when it comes to Mandarin aren’t they? So far his plans against Iron Man look remarkably similar (at least in tone anyways).

This really got me pumped for this. The previous trailers were alright but didn’t jazz me for this. But for some reason, and probably the amount of suits at the end of the trailer did it, got me excited.

  25. Loved this trailer. Never been a huge Iron Man fan and thought Iron Man 2 was quite flat, but this looks a whole lot better. Excited!

  26. Hot damn!

  27. Danm! That is ALOT of armor! For some reason I have never been able to really get into Iron Man in comics, but the movies are outstanding

  28. I believe this is supposed to be a standalone Iron Man film with no one popping in but we’ll see. The Mandarin voice is really bugging me. That being said, this was a fantastic trailer. Iron Man 3: The Deconstruction of Tony Stark.

  29. The slo-mo close up of pepper’s face as she is blown across the room is a little Micael Bay and scares me. Also it seems as they can;t have another armoured bad guy they seem to have gone for an aroured everyone else. But, it does look like fun and i will remain positive.
