So the speech was disturbing, the food was inedible, and the gift bags pretty frightening. And when GOB found out that he wasn’t going to get any tips, the service got worse. Oh and that old racist woman choked on Buster’s thumb. All in all it was one of the Bluth’s better panels.
The Flash #20
By Francis Manapul, Brian Buccellato, & Carlos M. Mangual
Do phones make a “snap” noise? Anyway, I like that Barry recognizes the need for good PR.
Young Avengers #5
By Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, Mike Norton, Matthew Wilson, & Clayton Cowles
This book can continue to push the boundaries on double page spread panel layouts as much as it wants as far as I am concerned.
Justice League Dark #20
By Ray Fawkes, Jeff Lemire, Mikel Janin, Vicente Cifuentes, Jeromy Cox, & Rob Leigh
We need more awkward interactions between traditional superheroes and the Justice League Dark.
Uncanny Avengers #8AU
By Rick Remender, Gerry Duggan, Adam Kubert, Frank Martin, & Cory Petit
I love shots like these but what really got me was the giant Mr. Fantastic costume strung along the entire ceiling.
Batman: Li’l Gotham #2
By Dustin Nguyen, Derek Fridolfs, & Saida Temofonte
He likes slides.
Star Wars: Legacy #3
By Corinna Bechko, Gabriel Hardman, Rachelle Rosenberg, & Michael Heisler
This might have been the moment that this story finally fully clicked with me.
All-Star Western #20
By Justin Gray, Jimmy Palmiotti, Moritat, Mike Atiyer, & Rob Leigh
Amen, brother.
Daredevil #26
By Mark Waid, Chris Samnee, Javier Rodriguez, & Joe Caramagna
If this had been a film this would have been the moment that made everyone jump in the theater.
Justice League #20
By Geoff Johns, Zander Cannon, Andres Guinaldo or Joe Prado, possibly Rob Hunter, Art Lyons and Hi-Fi, & Dezi Sienty
A powerful and sobering moment… though I am somewhat surprised that Batman goes in for grand metaphorical gestures.
Uncanny X-Men #6
By Brian Michael Bendis, Frazer Irving, & Joe Caramagna
There’s a lot of beauty in Frazer Irving’s vistas of Hell.
The perspective is off in that Uncanny AU panel. It’s throwing me off.
The landscape of Limbo is constantly shifting. That was a key detail way back in the Claremont days, and realized here to great effect.
Oh snap, you meant Uncanny Avengers…Sorry!
Don Constantine that was great! Also loved the uncanny avengers that was awesome.
All great panels. Uncanny Avengers #8AU and Uncanny X-Men #6 are amazing. But I am very surprised not to see any Deadpool #10 panels.
It was an awesome issue.
My phone does, indeed, make a snap sound when it takes a picture.
I have that feature turned off so I can discretely snap butt pictures of lady cos-players…
My crummy phone doesn’t have that option. I have to manually put the phone on vibrate before I turn the camera on to avoid that noise.
My phone makes a snap, I can’t turn it off (or I can’t figure out HOW to turn it off). No butt pictures for me!
If I could time travel I’d so go back and be the dude that invents yoga pants.
I thought Hal Jordan’s last spoken lines to Sinestro were the panels of the week. Was that last week? Very powerful, thought for sure it would be here.
I don’t mean to speak for Conor but I think he said on the podcast that he dropped the book a few months ago. I agree though, that was a great moment in a book full of great moments.
How is Justice League Dark? Now that Doug Mahnke will be taking up art duties, I’ll probably start picking up JLA soon and I’m wondering if I should get caught up on the last few issues of JL Dark in preparation for the Trinity War.
For my money, I think the next moments in DareDevil were better than Connor’s pick:
http://tinyurl.com/o3xbyk5
The sinister smile and the closing elevator door made me grin and shiver all at the same time. That sequence is what sold me on my agreement with Connor for DD #26 being my pick of the week.
The lettering baloon being half hidden behind the closing elevator door is a little stroke of genius.
YES!!
Really? not one panel from Green Lantern #20.
I don’t think Conor is reading Green Lantern (assuming all of the panels are chosen by him).
The conversation two people above me already stole it but I’ll repeat it:
The moment where the guy in the elevator reveals he’s with Ikari throw me for a loop! Wonderful pacing by Waid and it startled me just as much as Murdock.
Oh and that spread by McKelvie is ridiculous. Why am I still not into Young Avengers yet?
The elevator panel was my favourite this week as well. Pretty great week though to be fair.
The “I Like Slides” panel was one of those ones that when I read it, I just knew it would be here.
Snap, click, whatever. If you take a photo with your phone, it will make a noise. I guess in the DC Universe, it’s a bit different.
No GL 20 is a shame, you could probably do a best of the week in panels with just that book.
The wording on the Justice League comic is odd. “Doesn’t have A kryptonite, Clark.” Why is there an “a” there? That’s like saying Wonder Woman doesn’t have A helium.
I dont get this book either, but i think it’s like saying, “Wonder Woman doesn’t have a ‘weakness,’ Clark.” Batman’s just using kyrptonite b/c he’s referring to Supes. I could be wrong on that since it’s completely out of context, but i read thru that word balloon several times scratching my head before that came to me
That’s what it means, yes.
Kryptonite is often used interchangeably with ‘Achilles heel’ or ‘ultimate weakness.’ A Green Lantern’s kryptonite is the color yellow. Martian Manhunter’s is fire. Venom’s is sonic vibration.
Much as ‘Rushmore’ has come to mean ‘love of my life.’
The Kang Dynasty panel is brilliant in detail, he’s got everything in there, I love Kang. Frazer Irving is something else too, I love his color palettes.
And yes we do need more awkward moments between traditional heroes and JLDark, hell I’m for awkward moments between A list and down characters anywhere.
A little confused by Batman’s line in Justice League. Wonder Woman doesn’t have a kryptonite what?
And I just saw the discussion above. Never mind!
