These covers know how to work it.
Conan the Barbarian #12
Cover by Massimo Carnevale
One of my favorite covers of last year featured these two in the thrall of lust. Now comes the rage and agony of loss. I love how the focus remains on Belit, beautiful even in death, while the rest of the image veers into abstraction. Even the part of her gown that trails into the gestural portion of the image is rendered with as much detail as the form in Conan’s arms.
I just tried to see if you could scramble the letters in Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples’ names to get “Right Said Fred” and came up wanting for some D’s. But that’s okay. Cuz maybe the real inspiration is that one Janet Jackson Rolling Stone cover. Anyways. Delight in reading this in public. Hold it up in front of you for all to see like a spy in a farce.
I olny juts notcied taht teh letetrs were miexd up. Congition is facsinaitng. It also looks like a poster for a flick with James Coburn and trumpets in it. Sold.
This is either the perfect encapsulation of Wolverine’s feral ferocity or what the delivery person sees when they deliver a package to my house. I go out there with full intention of doffing my hat or even hugging them, but then I see the box and the beast takes over. They’ve taken to wearing riot gear lately.
