Templesmith’s WELCOME TO HOXFORD Gets Fan Film Treatment

We get a lot of people who send us their fan films of various superhero and comic book adaptations. Most of the time, I wonder why you’d put so much time, effort and money into doing something you can’t claim any ownership of, and that’s also been done a billion times. I know, cynical, right?

Today I saw this adaptation of a fairly obscure comic book, Welcome to Hoxford, by Ben Templesmith from IDW Publishing. That, in itself is kind odd. It was a quirky little creepy story about a prison, and while it was pretty good, it came and went in 4 issues.

But the adaptation starred actual actors, like Jason Flemyng, who I most remember for having an incredible mullet in Snatch, but did other things as well, and Dexter Fletcher, who played Sgt. John Martin in Band of Brothers.

So check it out, and Welcome to Hoxford.

  1. I want to sing it’s praises, but I don’t think I can come up with enough superlatives.

  2. Great find. Superbly done. Aside from the overacting policeman at the start I’d say it was pretty much pitch perfect.

  3. wow that shit was good. well done

  4. That was amazing. I want more dammit. I have to find the run and reread it.

  5. Wow. I just…wow. I am speechless in such a good way.

  6. Damn, that was awesome. I’d love to see it turned into a feature… And now I have to track down the series.

  7. Perhaps the best fan film I’ve ever seen.
