TEASER: The Walking Dead – “Something To Fear”

UPDATE
Skybound just posted the next teaser in this series..

Yesterday, Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment released the following, chilling teaser image for The Walking Dead:

What does it mean? We’re guessing there’s more teasers to come. Josh discussed on the podcast recently how The Walking Dead, even at issue #93 still surprised him, so it looks like even more surprises are coming. Given the longevity and consistent quality of the book, what could Kirkman and Adlard have up their sleeve?

(As always, in the discussion below, please avoid spoilers for those who read in trade or hardcovers(like me). Thanks!)

  1. Man… I feel so left behind. Waiting and waiting for number 100 to come out so they can publish the next omnibus – need that 51-100 itch scratched… must resist…. buying… trades…

    • I’m in the same boat as you except the Compendium ended at issue 48 and not 50. If everything goes as expected (crossing fingers) Compendium number 2 should be issues 49 through 96. I’m just hoping to see that big book under my Christmas tree this year and not 2013. Is that too much to ask.

  2. Instead of these promos I just wish they would CUT to the chase.

    • I usually agree with Josh’s assessment’s, but I found issue #93 boring and repetitive. I’m ready for more drama and conflict. The visual of the chainsaw dude is encouraging.

  3. These look terrifyingly fun.

  4. I’m a trade enjoyer on Walking Dead, so I just read the most recent one a couple of weeks ago. Ths series always thrills me, never disappointed. I like how how world is getting wider for the story…can’t wait.

One of my fondest adult comic book memories, I’m in Seattle on a business trip with a few hours to kill. I get online, find a comic shop and walk over. Great place in the flea market or something. Great shop with friendly folks. I never had read
Walking Dead before, and happened to see the first TPB. I picked it up, said the guy at counter, hey is this as good as I’ve heard? He was shocked I hadn’t read it and said I’m in for a treat. I bought it, read it in hotel night and have been hooked since.

  5. It was Golden Age Collectables. Great shop!

  6. I think it is gonna be a limited mini so they can make $ on the Walking Dead brand twice a month for like six to eight months, instead of their usual once a month cash in.

    • I doubt it. They released similar teasers for the No On Is Safe arc, and that all took place in the regular monthly. With the arguable exception of Guarding the Globe, Kirkman has managed to steer clear of unneccessary minis altogether. Which I, for one, appreciate.

A Walking Dead mini wouldn’t really work considering the tight focus on a central group of characters. Besides, there’s been so little action in the title recently that to have this story happen in a miniseries would be a big middle finger to all of us, and Kirkman is the most fan friendly creator out there.

    • Your silly cynicism makes you think wrong.

This will not be A Walking Dead miniseries.

  7. Looking forward to once again having something to fear in TWD (see what i did there).

I wonder if the chainsaw dude is someone we know already. It’s hard to decide if his face is just in typical Adlard shadow, or blacked out to avoid spoilers.

  8. I like these image teasers a little better than the last crop. Did anything ever come of the bizarre ones they put out last year. I recall them looking very abstract and seeming to have nothing to do with anything.
