Teaser: Marvel NOW! Jason Aaron & Esad Ribic are “Worthy”

Another new Marvel NOW! creative team teaser to share this afternoon. While yesterday’s “Invincible” modifier for Gillen and Land has direct ties to the Iron Man ongoing, today’s “Worthy” has a different kind of connection to a popular Marvel character. There’s never been a title with “Worthy ” in it, but the word does harken to certain hammer wielding requirements and recent groups tied to Fear Itself. The best bet? champion of Asgard and Midgard both, Thor.

Unless…

Aaron and Ribic prove their mettle in November.

  1. I don’t think I can buy this book, because I’ll probably be doing this in the store when I see it on the shelves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FucbvoFFy0

  2. I imagine I’ll try this if it’s Thor, but…I cannot adequately express to you the aversion I now feel anytime I see the word “Worthy”. I don’t like being reminded of the Summer Event That Shall Not Be Named…*shivers*

  3. Hmm I’m intrigued looks like I’ll be buying Thor for the first time

  4. Jason Aaron has earned my loyalty, so I’ll give this a try
    .

  5. Worthy. James Worthy.
80s Lakers Legend by night. Secret agent by day.

  6. Is this their new house font?

  7. Esad Ribic is an awesome artist and Jason Aaron is an awesome writer….but on Thor. Meh.

  8. Love Aaron, and love Thor, but hopefully Aaron doesnt pull an Incredible Hulk on this one…

Please keep Wolverine and the X-Men around…thanks

  9. Ribic it on a very short list when it comes to artists I’m interested in no matter what.

In a perfect world, he’d just be doing alternative arcs with Opena on Uncanny X-Force. Or doing a bi-monthly Ultimates book with Hickman (the fill-ins KILLED me on that series…).

But, yeah, I’ll read a book by him and Aaron, whether it’s Thor or not. Just hope he can do more than 3-4 issues before the fill-ins start.

  11. I’ve grown into a Thor fan in recent years. I’ve really liked what Fraction & Gillen have done with that universe. I’ll check it out. I liked the Loki mini that Ribic did with Rodi

  12. Big fan of Aaron’s work on Wolverine and the X-Men but have heard very mixed reports of his Hulk run. Ribic is a bawse though, for sure, love his X-Force stuff.

I tried to get into Thor for a bit of Fraction’s run and it just didn’t stick with me, wasn’t into it at all. Will give it a whirl with this team and hopefully I’ll be into it a lot more than I was with him.

  13. After the shambles that was Incredible Hulk. No. Marvel! Now!

  14. jason aaron is the only reason ill pick up this book. i really, REALLY hope it DOESNT have ties to AvX

  15. This is a complete opposite of how I felt about the Iron Man announcement.

Esad Ribic on Thor? Perfect choice!
Jason Aaron? Ugh…..why do you hate me Marvel!?

I hope there’s a book and a creative team that actually interest me. And if a rumor on Bleeding Cool is to be believed….then that could happen.
