Yup that’s some scarlet spider hoodie action, I know, I made one out of a neon blue hoodie and funny foam in 7th grade. I will post photos when I dig them out of the garage.
This was the teaser shown directly after the panel where they flat out denied that Ben Reilly would make a comeback in Spider Island. Colour me confused.
I think it probably has something to do with the Spider Island storyline event coming up. If other people get Spidey powers, it makes sense that they might wear gear with a spider on it. I think it might be a cover for an epilogue where (surprise!) everybody blames Spidey for Spider Island and turns against him.
That doesn’t look like a hoody to me, it looks like the FF costume, with the mask kind of folded inward. I think it means Johnny is coming back and taking his spot on the team back.
@JohnVFerrigno That’s a hoodie alright. There’s a drawstring across the left side of the emblem. And the FF logo is made up of hexagons. This is all rounded ovals.
The Clone saga was mess b/c it didn’t know when to quit.
But there were Good stories and the Jackal was a smart/creepy/scary character. And Ben Reilley was a really good character with a lot of potential that was sacrificed to atone for the sins of Marvel not knowing when or how to reign it in with that story.
See, I’m so stuck loving Ben Reilly. I grew up reading Spidey and when I hit 18 and I’m in the process of becoming who I am, Ben Reilly comes along and its all this “who am I ” stuff. Which I loved at ate up with a spork. So I’m always tied to this character. Even the day I proposed to my wife, I read Spider-man 77, huge life events happened while I read this character. Some folks hate him, some love him. Marvel will never do this character right. How can you do this character right now? I want him back of course, but really I also have sevre reservations. I think his best bet would to have been Venom over Flash Thompson. I know Marvel will bring him back as some kind of reverse Flash-esque character. He will not be 90′s Rusted Root Ben.
People’s inability to distinguish between a blue hoodie with a drawstring and a while once-piece costume is kind of hilarious. All I know is, I dropped ASM…. Ben Reily might be enough to get me back.
I’m willing to believe that Johnny Storm will be returning, Spider-Man will be out of FF, the Scarlet Spider will be making an appearance soon (possibly MVP), and that this is more related to Spider-Island than any of those other things.

@Loser13 I liked the hoodie too. I mean it’s lame but in a way that tells you the guy feels like a generic Spidey so its endearing.
