SDCC 2011: Preview Art from September’s #1 issues of BATMAN, CATWOMAN, NIGHTWING And More

A Batman family panel just concluded this evening in San Diego, but why endure the lines and the sweat and the potential eye-stabbery when you can get all the sneak peeks right here? Courtesy of DC's Source Blog, we've got some really promising previews from September's Batman related titles.

From Batman #1 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo:

From Catwoman #1 by Judd Winick and Guillem March:

From Batwoman #1 by J.H. Williams III and Haden Blackman:

From Batwing #1 by Judd Winick and Ben Oliver:

From Nightwing #1 by Kyle Higgins:

From Red Hood & The Outlaws #1 by Scott Lobdell & Kenneth Rocafort:

There's a lot to be excited about here. Will the Bat books remain as strong as they are now in the current DCU? They stand a decent chance.

Batwoman …..just WOW.     All the art looks amazing.  I will be getting all of these books.

  2. 1aurien 1aurien says:

Not really interested in the concept, but the art for Batwing looks spectacular.

  3. Is that Joker teaming up with Batman? Anyway, Capullo looks to be a good fit for this series.

  4. PraxJarvin PraxJarvin says:

Capullo’s Batman has got a nice 90s TAS feel to it. Spawn-y but not. I like it all.

  5. Luthor Luthor says:

This is the first time I noticed that Jason Todd has a bat on his chest.  That’s interesting.

  6. Oh sweet Georgia Brown…that Batwoman book just looks…oh man.

  7. j206 j206 says:

Rocafort is so good. Why did he have to get put on a book with Scott Lobdell?

  8. TheLastSon21 TheLastSon21 says:

All of those look incredible!  I wasn’t going to get Catwoman or  Batwing, but I’m rethinking.

  9. AmirCat AmirCat says:

I’m loving Batwoman, Catwoman, Nightwing, and Batwing’s art.

  10. Jesse1125 Jesse1125 says:

wow..I’m really interested to see how those JH Williams panels translate digitally.

  11. wiski wiski says:

    Red Hood ATO looks jerkin.

  12. JZga JZga says:

I’ve been wating a while for the new Batwoman relaunch but goddamn that’s some beautiful J.H. Williams III art.

  13. Wow, that’s some beautiful art right there on ALL of those books. Looks like the Bat Books are going to be great looking!

  14. JSAkid JSAkid says:

Batwoman/ J.H. Williams lll is sick!!!! Scott Snyder and Capullo on Batman look great!!! Gotta cut a corner somewhere so its gonna be on Catwoman cause Red Hood & The Outlaws looks and sounds intriguing and Nightwing looks amazing too, especially after only seeing that one image of him in the new red n black version of the Nightwing costume, the art in his panels look way better than I was expecting, love it!! Been looking forward to Batwoman since Elegy and Batwoman #0, glad they waited for the reboot, will be worth the wait.

  15. kennyg kennyg says:

Williams is the man. Looks incredible. I’ve missed his beautiful art and creative panel layouts.

I’m not so hot on Capullo’s Joker, but the rest looks pretty good. Spawn-y, but good.

All the others look really good, too. I’m impressed. Great layouts, great artwork. Hope the stories are as good as these. Also not hot on the Batwing concept, but that art… might swing me over to that book. Winnick is no slouch…

  16. Other then Capullo’s take on Joker and Two-Face, I like the preview. The art in all of these books are pretty good even the Eddy Barrows stuff looks good. Still inching close to maybe trying Nightwing in issues.

  17. I love that Catwoman actually wears boots.

I was already going to get all of these… this just confirms my choice.

  18. CronyC CronyC says:

    Not that into Greg Capullo.

  19. Heroville Heroville says:

I was gonna say that I didn’t like what they did with Pyg’s mask but then I realized he’d made this one out of a pillow case

  20. woah. DC is stepping it up for sure.

  21. Xomneon Xomneon says:

Go DC! They all look great. Can’t wait.

  22. HailScott HailScott says:

Snyder has been doing such an AMAZING job in Detective, but that art above has me worried- is Snyder going to be expected to use all of Batman’s typical slew of bad guys? Last issue’s Detective was a nice Joker tease, but are we going to get “reintroduced” to him in the reboot? Snyder’s my current favorite because his perspective and ideas are so original. It would be such a waste if he had to stick to the same old rogues’ gallery.

  23. Kirkerson Kirkerson says:

The art actually has me rethinking whether or not to pick up Batman. Jock and FF’s art had so much subtlety and nuance that the Capullo art just looks gaudy to me.

  24. i like all of them but i have to boot off one, but i can’t pick, they’re just all awesome!

  25. WheelHands WheelHands says:

That Catwoman panel is spectacular. Lotta good stuff here.

  26. froggulper says:

I saw that same Batwoman #1 preview page in the back of Batwoman #0 from last fall. I really hope JH has done some more pages since then… ;-)

  27. Limitless Limitless says:

I wasn’t going to buy Batwoman.  Had NO interest.  Then I saw that preview.  I can’t NOT.  Those layouts?  SON.
