SDCC 2011: Brian K. Vaughan Returns to Comics with SAGA at Image

BKV is back.

Announced today at a creator-owned comics panel at SDCC, Brian K. Vaughan is returning to comics with a new ongoing at Image. 2012's Saga sees Vaughan teaming with Mystery Society artist Fiona Staples.

In an interview with CBR, Vaughan described the sci-fi ongoing as such:

"Saga" is an epic drama chronicling the life and times of one young family fighting to survive a never-ending war.

We don't know a whole lot else, but people have horns and gyrocopter things.

At the same time!

We're getting a Dark Crystal vibe that makes us feel really, really warm and gooey.

Our favorite word in this announcement? "Ongoing."

  13. CGPO CGPO says:

My only complaint, it isn’t out until 2012.  Still, nice to finally see BKV working on comics again.  Part of me wishes it was with Vertigo just because, but Image makes sense in terms of creative control and profit share.

  17. Slockhart Slockhart says:

BKV with Image is just more evidence toward my theory that Vertigo won’t be doing monthly comics anymore.

Awesome announcement though. Kinda covers up how lackluster this SDCC has been on the comic book front.
