PREVIEW: Secret Avengers #22

Secret Avengers #1To say I’m excited for Secret Avengers #22 would be an understatement. As I mentioned when I suggested Secret Avengers #21.1 last week, this book has the promise to be one of the best books of 2012. Based on last week’s pick of the week percentages, many of you agreed with me as Secret Avengers #21.1 with 11% of the Picks of the Week from the iFanbase.

But now it’s really getting started as writer Rick Remender is joined by artist Gabriel Hardman to begin their run on the book together, and let me tell you, Captain Britain has never looked more awesome.  If you’re looking for a jumping on point, this is the issue for you as the new team comes together under the leadership of Hawkeye and things take off from there. If you’ve been keeping track of what Remender and Hardman have planned for this run, then you’ll have an idea of what’s to come.

Below is the first few pages of the issue and is great to see it it getting off to a great start. Trust me people, this book is one to watch. Based on their performance in 2011 with what Remender did with Uncanny X-Force and what Hardman did on Hulk, Secret Avengers is definitely the book to watch from Marvel.

Secret Avengers #22 ships on February 22, 2012 February 8, 2012 and has a cover price of $3.99.

Ron i match your excitement. Wednesday could not get here fast enough! My only wish, is for Moon Knight to be on the team. That would be so cool.

    • Neeks Neeks says:

I agree with Moon knight ending his series in 3 issues and him being off the team is a big dissapointment and im not sure where he will pop up now

    • l0wbacca says:

Moon Knight would be so awesome in this. Didnt he say something in the last ish about how he was a “Secret Avenger”?

  2. Neeks Neeks says:

$2.99!?!?! Is it staying at that price?

  3. GunnerAsh GunnerAsh says:

Might give this a try. Being British myself, but never having read any Captain Britian, well now this is my chance it seems. For $2.99, I’m in.

  4. natethegreat natethegreat says:

This issue looks so good and ships on my birthday oh happy days!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. bgavino says:

Oh man this looks really really good. I love that Remender uses Captain Britain a great character who is not used at all! I really like the line-up Remender is using, just wish Moon Knight was a member.

  6. filippod filippod says:

    The Hardman spread looks spectacular.

  7. Trying to think if that Captain Britain & The Queen thing is just a British thing, or if Captain America would do something similar with the President.

  8. franchise franchise says:

Now if only they’d alternate arcs between Hardman and Opena, I’d be in heaven!

  9. RahUniQue RahUniQue says:

Hopefully whoever takes over for Bendis, adds Moon Knight to their Avengers roster. Maybe they can have Remender write Avengers. Jeff Parker could write New Avengers. I would be a very happy Marvel zombie if that was to happen.

  10. RahUniQue RahUniQue says:

Wait….wait…wait……Midtown Comics says this comes out this Wednesday!!!! Are they lying?!?!?!?!?!!? PLEASE NO!!!!! I WANT THIS BOOK NOW!!!!

  11. MisterJ says:

Looks just as good as I was hoping it would! Great to see these two working together.

  12. doomwad doomwad says:

I was on the fence on this book…. I mean, I have bought all the Secret Avengers to date, Captain Britain is my favorite character, Gabe Hardman is one of the best artists alive, Remender is at the top of his game and producing some of the best original stories out there, I have a guest appearance on page 5 of the book, I named my son after the inker of the book, the editor of the book helped me move some heavy boxes in my garage over the weekend…. but I was undecided and unconvinced….

Then I heard from Ron that the book is only $2.99! Thank you Ron! I am going all in. Fingers crossed. You only live once. Ron – if this isn’t good, I want my 2 dollars back!

  13. The artwork is fantastic by Hardman and with Remender writing this “I’m in!!” Thanks Ron!!

  14. jackietam jackietam says:

Note to self: Must get Gabe Hardman to do a commission of Captain Britain/Captain America fight scene.

  15. Poopmonster Poopmonster says:

Love betrayal of thy Planet of the Apes and can’t wait for Hardman’s next project.

  16. party party says:

At risk of sounding stupid, this is Hank Pym as Ant Man right? I was really hoping for Eric O’Grady when the teaser first released.

  17. emberman says:

This artist sucks. It sucks so bad it makes Remender’s writing look bad, in fact Remender is the ONLY reason I am not dropping this book. They really NEED to lose the water painting, its awful!
