PREVIEW: James Asmus & Tom Fowler Team Up for Valiant’s QUANTUM & WOODY

Last week we posted what Valiant itself conceded as the Worst Teaser Ever. Clever as you are, you almost immediately deduced the publisher’s new ongoing would be a revitalized Quantum and Woody title, and today we can confirm your suspicions.

BUT, did you guess the creative team? Not even close, you clods! But then, how could you possibly have guessed at such an exciting pedigree? James Asmus and Tom Fowler for starters, but also Jordie Bellaire on colors and Fowler, Ryan Sook, Andrew Robinson and Marcos Martin on covers!

And there’s a goat!

Once upon a time, Eric and Woody Henderson were inseparable. Adopted brothers. Best friends. Brilliant minds. Years later, they are estranged siblings, petty rivals, and washed-up failures. But when their father’s murder leads them into the throes of a life-altering scientific accident, Eric and Woody will find themselves with a whole new purpose – and a perfectly legitimate reason to wear costumes and fight crime. Go big or go home, folks! Quantum and Woody are coming! And the action-packed, zeitgeist-shredding exploitation stunt comic you demanded is here at last.

(And, yes, there will be a goat too. Eventually.)

On July 10th, the Valiant Universe’s most infamous duo enter the fray with writer James Asmus, artist Tom Fowler and colorist Jordie Bellaire in Quantum and Woody #1 – featuring a standard cover by Ryan Sook, a Pullbox Exclusive Variant by Marcos Martin for customers who pre-order with the their local retailer, an incentive variant by Andrew Robinson, and an interactive QR Voice Variant by Tom Fowler (with real talking goat action)!

Now, how’s about a preview?

Comments

  1. Hmmm. Fowler’s awesome. Haven’t really read much by Asmus.

Gotta be honest… without Priest and Bright on the series, I’m not sure I’m interested. It’s just one of those things. Like someone NOT James Robinson writing Jack Knight. Ya know?

  2. Is Jordie Bellaire coloring everything?

  3. The Valiant comics have been pretty solid so far, so i dont see any reason i wont give this a try.

  4. Never read the previous stuff, but may give this a whirl because I love Fowler’s art.

  5. I must say I feel weird that Priest and Bright are not doing this but unless I find out they are totally being screwed out of their creator’s rights I will give this a try.

    • If its anything like BWS then they are probably getting screwed. I’m not 100% sure, but that’s part of the reason I don’t read A&A. I never read the origina Q&W so I have no emotional attachment here, so I will definitely be checking it out. I’m glad things are different nowadays.

  6. I’m in.

Everything else Valiant has put out has been great.

    Still waiting for Rai though.

  7. This looks perfect! Excellent compliment to the rest if the Valiant line-up. Can’t wait.

  8. Serious question here.

Does Jordie Bellaire sleep? She’s seriously coloring half of the books on the stands

  9. Is this a new take on the concept or will it have ties to whats come before

  10. I didn’t read this series the first time around, but the concept sounds good. Given Valiant’s recent track record, I’ll probably give it a chance. Plus, there seems to be a goat . . .

  11. Never heard of it before. But the “worst team ever” and the cover with the goat, has some how sold me.. i’m definitly going to check this out.

I may have to check Amazon see if there is any older stuff.. Is the older stuff good??

  12. I love that the goat is eating a copy of their comic. I’m not really familiar with the original series but the valiant titles have been so much fun that I’ll definitely gives this a fair shot.
