PREVIEW: INCREDIBLE HULK #1 by Jason Aaron and Marc Silvestri

We do not know much about Jason Aaron’s new Incredible Hulk story, other than the pencils and covers are by Marc Silvestri. The blurb Marvel supplied suggests that it is “a Hulk story unlike anything you’ve ever seen,” a bit of hyperbole so common to comic books that it literally does nothing but use letters, and that we’re leading up to something fans have been demanding, which is Hulk vs. Banner. Seems like it would be a quick fight, at least if it was a cage match. Obviously, Hulk is the strongest one there is. But is that exclusive to brawling, or does it apply to any competitive aspirations?

If you want some of this action, and let’s face it, Jason Aaron is on a hot streak that transcends marketing copy, you can get the issue in your green foam mits on October 26.

Smashing may well ensue. It’s sort of a whole thing.

(These sorts of smashing comments will accompany almost any article on the Hulk I post. It’s a sort of condition I have.)

I think I will probably be checking this out. I love some stories with the Hulk and this looks like it might be fun.

  4. Timmy Wood TimmyWood (@TimmyWood) says:

Not a huge Silvestri fan but my love for Aaron wins out. I will definitely give this a shot.

  5. mrlogical mrlogical says:

Surprised how much I like that art. I think I may have mixed up Silvestri and Portacio.

  6. Toshimoko29 Toshimoko29 says:

I will most likely flip through this, but from the preview it doesn’t look like the kind of Hulk story I enjoy. I’d much prefer a back-to-basics approach.

  7. dkbrain dkbrain says:

Don’t love Hulk but will try it because of Jason Aaron.

  10. catawampus says:

This version of the Hulk looks like a guy who sold me shrooms once. In all seriousness though Jason Aaron’s great and while I don’t usually don’t dig Silvestri’s art what we’re seeing in this preview pleasantly surprised me. I hope Aaron can work the same voodoo on the Hulk that he does on Wolverine.

  11. AlanRob AlanRob says:

This is absolutely beautiful, and I totally trust Jason Aaron at this point, BUT a robot delivering the line “His status is, he’s kicking our ass”?

I’m sure it will be explained.

  12. Neeks Neeks says:

Slap Jason Aarons name on anything at this point and ill give it a try

    • I didn’t pick up Schism, and I’m on the fence about Wolverine and the X-Men (I’m just not an X-book kinda guy), but I am pretty much in agreement with you.

    • Neeks Neeks says:

I was the same way, only had read a handful of x books in my life and was never that huge of a fan. Ended up reading every issue so far of Wolverine by Aaron and enjoyed them enough to grab all the Schisms up to this point and am now ready to grab Wolverine and the X-men based off this. Give it a shot you may end up enjoying it

  13. I want to subscribe to this, but I don’t know if I can afford another book. I may replace Hulk with Incredible Hulk.

  14. ato220 ato220 says:

I haven’t read a hulk book sice WWH. I’m a scorned lover with the title. I do love some Jason Aaron though. I’m in.

  15. nastysnow says:

    Aaaaaaa goodness love the hulk

  16. wayne2001bc wayne2001bc says:

I don’t think I can get any more excited for an upcoming new series. Jason Aaron on the Incredible Hulk and Jeff Parker on Hulk…the Gamma gods are smiling down on Hulk fans.
