PREVIEW: Captain America #616 Boasts Cavalcade of Creators

Cap turns 70 this year and Marvel's celebrating with a patriot-sized anthology in Captain America #616. The creative teams have us pretty damn excited. And there's a werebear.

If you've been following the marketing campaign for the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger film, you'll note that some of Chris Evans' duds are already being handed down, slowly, subtly, to his 616 counterpart. Again, nothing dramatic, but keep an eye out for that helmet.

Ready for life, liberty, and the dogged pursuit of Hydra agents? Let's move out.

It all starts with a cover by Travis Charest capable of reducing even the most jaded eagle to tears:

Next up, Ed Brubaker, Mike Deodato, and Ed McGuinness team for a modern tale spiraling out of "The Trial of Captain America" story line. Bucky's behind bars in Russia and it's up to Steve to exonerate his old sidekick. What's the original Captain America willing to do to render justice in a corrupt system? WARNING: WereBear ahead…

Howard Chaykin delivers a lost tale from the days before Steve developed freezer burn.

Then another modern yarn from Frank Tieri and Paul Azaceta. Captain America vs. the threat of genocide!

You've heard of CapWolf, but you'll fangs Mike Benson and Paul Grist for the memories as they recount a bout of vampirism from WWII!

Then, Kyle Higgins, Alec Siegel and Pepe Larraz present a team-up with Union Jack!

Last but not least, The Sixth Gun's Cullen Bunn and Jason Latour send Cap on a mid-west treasure hunt from which he may never return!
