Preview: The Amazing Spider-Man #700

Marvel Comics is only offering two new issues on December the 26th. One of them is the 700th and “final issue” of The Amazing Spider-Man. The other is Avenging Spider-Man #15.1. That’s your reading order and what might be the end of Peter Parker’s 50-year career as your friendly neighborhood wall-crawler.

We can’t tell you too much about Yost and Medina’s issue, but we’ve got a preview of ASM #700. And it’s brimming with familiar faces, all with one unfortunate thing in common. So, why the reunion? Why a a new mandate from Peter’s beloved Uncle Ben Parker?

You’ll just have to wait and see.

Comments

  1. I am definitely curious where this story is going, especially after reading ASM #698 today. I have faith Dan Slott will deliver. Any theories on who the new Spider-Man is going to be? Anyone think it might be Miguel O’Hara? The Superior Spider-Man seems to have some claw type additions, didn’t Miguel have something like that?

    Looking so forward to this

  3. Also, can I just say that is one fantastic cover?

  4. This is the first time I’ve ever seen Forest Hills in a Spider-Man comic actually drawn like Forest Hills.

  5. Grandturk says:

I’m clueless as to what’s going to happen. I said I wouldn’t stay on for Superior Spidey – but damn if I didn’t order it anyway…

Ah well. How about a Spider-woman – that’s never been done before, right?

Seems like killing Parker and replacing him has been done already – like just recently – in the Ultimate universe…

  6. cubman987 cubman987 says:

Man I can’t wait for this

  7. Julesxsxex says:

I’m gonna pick up the first few issues of Superior Spider-Man, but man am i gonna miss Peter Parker. I don’t understand why Marvel hates Peter Parker so much and needs to kill him across the multiverse, but it kind of reminds me how much i actually connect when the character.

  8. Does anyone know the page count and price?

  9. I believe it is $7.99 and it is something like 130 pages.

  10. Not the first time they’ve relaunched Spider-Man with someone else under the mask. But I’m willing to be this trumps Howard Mackie’s run and the late Mattie Franklin’s padded suit Spider-Man impersonation.

My prediction, Pete comes back and kicks the snot out of doc ock. Maybe pete fights spider-man as doc ock reversing the classic perspective. Peter ultimately triumphs and returns to his body only to discover…dock ock was a better Peter Parker than he was. He quits being spidey for awhile to have a life and finds someone else to take over…

Using the time machine at Horizon, introduced last year, Pete pulls his one time crossover buddy Spider-Man 2099 out of the time stream. With Miguel as spidey peter can be spider-man’s tech guy like he has pretended to be. That is until villians from the 2099 verse come looking for miguel. Like Hypno Hustler 2099, Frogman 2099, ect.

That or the new spidey is Harry Osborn.

Bring on the Slott ASM omnibuses!!

  12. AceBathound AceBathound says:

Seriously, why does Marvel hate Peter Parker?

  13. princegary08 princegary08 says:

I don’t think they are going to kill Peter I think that they might kill Aunt May and peter to lose his no killing thing and become more stapie

  14. Would anyone like to count how many Spider-Mans appear on the cover? My guess is 700.

  15. player1 player1 says:

    Looking forward to this.

Had to let my subscription lapse, so public library here I come.
