NYCC: X-Men Arcade Coming to Xbox 360 and PS3

The greatest Marvel arcade game of all time is finally getting the modern treatment, as today at NYCC Marvel announced that Konami's classic X-Men Arcade game will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network!

]

Choose from Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, or Dazzler in this six-player brawl-fest, featuring drop-in/drop-out online cooperative play. Judging from the trailer, X-Men Arcade will also have a kind of sandbox mode where you can drop any of the bosses into play. The port is being developed in-house by Konami, but no word on a release date yet.

I call dibs on Colossus!

Dazzler?  I don’t remember anyone ever picking Dazzler.  I doubt anyone ever picked her…except Ron. :)

  2. I am aggresively repulsed by these Marvel video game offerings.

  3. vinh vinh says:

I had no qualms with playing as Dazzler.

Dazzler haters forget that she is way more powerful than a lot of other mutants.

  8. voodoomama voodoomama says:

Is it wrong to but a PS3 just because of this?

  9. DuneGig DuneGig says:

Huh, could have sworn Jubilee was in the arcade game and Dazzler wasn’t… :/

Yes!!  I was wondering when this would hit consoles for a really long time now!!  A little bit late, but I might just have in on my PS3 just for nostalgia!!

  11. English says:

I remember spending many a afternoon with a fist of quarters on that game. Now all it will cost me is time. … oh and some vague Microsoft points that have a very odd exchange rate.

  12. This game is high on my nostalgia wish list! I will definitely get this one. now all I need is the old Avengers game that was out around the same time, and the Dungeons and Dragons side scroller from the late 90s and I’ll be golden!

  13. AlanRob AlanRob says:

Words cannot express how excited I am for this! I spent SO MUCH money on this as a kid.

Now all we need is the Avengers arcade to be ported too!!!!!

About time. I can’t even tell you guys how many hours I spent playing this game.

  17. trobinson79 trobinson79 says:

Holy poop, about freakin’ time.  Storm was always the best character – beat the entire game with her wand and not using her mutant powers.

  18. dizzpozable dizzpozable says:

The only thing better is the six-player custom cab at Ground Kontrol:

    Holy F! Yes!

  20. Damn it. Why can’t they port this over to Wii!?

  21. Neb Neb says:

I played this as a kid for sure, and at the time, I had no idea who Dazzler was.  Now that I do, I think, "Dazzler?  Really?" She may be a beloved character by some people, but man, her powers are lame ass.  Especially in a video game.

  22. zattaric zattaric says:

    I always picked Dazzler.

  23. SirCox SirCox says:

I was always Colossus and I never failed to crack up every time I used his powers. AARGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  24. ccarney ccarney says:

I’m the best at what I do!! I call Wolverine.

  25. convoy83 convoy83 says:

I always picked dazzler as well

  26. RazorEdge757 RazorEdge757 says:

Does anyone else remember an infinity gauntlet game that was awfully similar to this. This was a little before my time. But that infinity gauntlet game is the one I want.

  27. @dizzpozable The recreation process blogs for the cabinet are awesome! What I wouldn’t do for an arcade like Ground Control here in SF…
