NYCC 2012: New York City Celebrates Spider-Man’s Birthday On Sunday, October 14!

New York City is throwing a birthday party for Spider-Man, and everyone is invited.

Yesterday at Marvel’s booth at New York Comic Con, Marvel E-I-C Alex Alonso joined with NYC’s Commissioner of media and Entertainment Katherine Oliver to announce that the city of New York was helping Marvel throw a birthday party for the webbed wall-crawler.

Marvel has partnered with Hallmark to create a ginormous 6 foot by 8 foot Birthday card for the hero, which is on display at the convention and is available for fans to sign. Marvel is hoping they will garner enough signatures to break the Guinness World Record for “Most Contributions to a Greeting Card.” Although if nothing else, maybe he’ll get a No-Prize.

This fun little announcement made me think of a recent page from Amazing Spider-Man that showed New York getting in on the Spider-Man spirit.

Marvel themselves are celebrating Spider-Man’s birthday…you would have thought they would’ve brought a better spidey costume…
