Comments

  1. BQ: Young Justice, New Girl and Archer.

    • Avenging Spider-man, Batgirl, Batman & Robin, Batwoman, Demon Knights, Fantastic Four, JIM, Saga, Saucer Country, Scarlet Spider, Secret, and Superboy.

I am SERIOUSLY considering the Untold Tales of Spider-man Omnibus and the Severed and Batman Incorporated HCs. Oh, to have more money!

  2. Wow, one of my biggest weeks in a while. 11 books!

BQ: Been really liking Mad Men.

  3. Batman Inc Volume 1 (HC)
    Daredevil Season One (HC)
    Severed (HC)

    BQ: Just got into Community.

  4. Omega is in effect.

    America’s Got Powers
    Avenging Spider-Man
    Lobster Johnson
    Lord of the Jungle
    New Avengers
    Saga
    Saucer Country
    Secret Avengers
    Thief of Thieves
    Winter Soldier

BQ: Mad Men. Always Mad Men.

  5. BQ: Game of Thrones and Mad Men

  6. BQ: Mad Men, New Girl, Bones, Fringe, Breakout Kings

  7. Community, Parks and Rec, Young Justice, Archer and Game of Thrones

  8. BQ: I’m a sucker for the NBC comedies. Parks and Rec, Office, Community, and 30 Rock. Park’s season is over and the Office has been serving up re-runs so lately it’s just been Community and 30 Rock.

I find I like them more if I start from the beginning. Anyone been watching Up All Night from the start? And is it worth checking out? What I’ve seen has potential.

  9. Saga #2!!!

BQ: Game of Thrones, Community, Parks and Rec, New Girl, Mad Men, Reds Baseball

  10. Small week for issues for me this week: Saga, Green Lantern, and Avenging Spider-Man

HUGE week for collected editions: Severed, 100 Bullets Vol. 2, No Man’s Land Vol 2, Ben Reilly Epic Vol 4, Untold Tales of Spider-Man Omnibus… adios, savings account…

  11. BQ: Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Nurse Jackie, and the hockey playoffs.

  12. Far too big a week for me:

    Dark Horse:
    Conan The Barbarian
    Lobster Johnson: the burning hand

    DC:
    Batwoman
    Demon Knights
    Frankenstein: AOS

    Image:
    Saga
    Secret

    Marvel:
    Fantastic Four
    Journey into Mystery

BQ: waiting paitently for the next season of Venture Bros.

  13. Avengers vs. X-Men–I didn’t think it would be my thing but the first issue pulled me in enough to want to continue.
Swamp Thing–back when Allan Moore wrote these it was my favorite book, I keep getting it in the pull box many years afterward: Veitch, Pollock, but eventually dropped it. I’ve enjoyed the new series somewhat, but not enough to sustain getting it pulled. The storyline is just to drawn out. Still enjoy The Walking Dead.

TV: Mad Men, American Pickers, Antique Roadshow, Survivor

  14. Avenging Spider-Man #6, Batman & Robin #8, Deadpool #53, Carnage USA #5, Green Lantern #8, Mighty Thor #12.1, Saga #1 2nd printing, Saga #2, Scarlet Spider #4, Secret Avengers #25, Superboy #8, Winter Soldier #4, and Wolverine #304. After Jason Aaron ends his run on Wolverine I’m done as well. Nothing against it but the second week of the month is the week I spend the most comics and I need to lighten the load. Good thing Carnage USA is also ending.

BQ: New Girl, 2 Broke Girls, Breaking In, Young Justice, Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Avengers: EMH

  15. Looking forward to Saga #2 and finally getting to read Severed the most. Picking up Secret and Saucer Country also.

BQ. Game of Thrones might be my favorite show. Community is my favorite Comedy and Adventure Time is my favorite Cartoon. I’ve yet to catch up on this season of Mad Men : /

  16. BQ; Mad Men (love the refrence in the post title btw), Game of Thrones and Fact of Faked: Paranormal Files. Yes, I’m all about Saucer Country, what of it?

    • Oh anf 13 books this week. Insane. In fact this whole month is.

Saga, Batman and Robin, Saucer Country, Frankenstein, Shade, Glory, Secret, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, Secret Avengers, Avenging Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Men, Winter Soldier….

I wouldn’t even know where to start there…

  17. I’m looking forward to a bit of the old ultra-violence this week.

    DEMON KNIGHTS #8
    FRANKENSTEIN AGENT OF SHADE #8
    GLORY #25
    PETER PANZERFAUST #3
    SAGA #2
    SHADE #7

  18. Saga
    Batman and Robin
    Frankenstein
    Green Lantern
    Secret Avengers
    Avenging Spider-man

Looking forward to Saga and the start of the Omega Effect Crossover. And Batman and Robin is one of my favorite books out so of course that’s going to be awesome. BQ: Young Justice and Avengers EMH.

  19. HUGE week with 15 books! Pumped for Saga, Shade, Frankenstein, Ressurrection Man, Batman & Robin and Green Lantern in particular.

BQ: Community is awesome. Still Simpson-ing on after all these years. Plus Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Justified (on Netfix). A handful of other shows too but I’m not watching nearly as much tv as I used to in the old days.

  20. Big week for me with 8 floppies and 2 deluxe hardcovers. Most looking forward to Saga. Sad to see Northlanders end.

BQ: Game of Thrones is great. Been watching some scandinavian shows lately, Borgen and Bron (The Bridge). First episode of Magic City was pretty good and I’ve really been enjoying HBO’s Luck. Pretty sad that ended after only one season. Also catching up on Hell On Wheels, which is fantastic!

  21. What ever happended to that Tom Katers bloke?

  22. So many comics…

BQ: Game of Thrones is the only show I’m watching right now.

  23. Awesome much needed week, Saga, Secret, Fantastic Four
(Hickmania), Winter Soldier, Secret Avengers, Unwritten,
Batwoman, Suicide Squad & Journey Into Mystery!
Comic orgasm here I come, literally!

  24. SAGA #2 – I like this book. I don’t LOVE IT like the rest of the comic blogsphere, but I also don’t get weak in the knees every time someone namedrops the initials BKV in quick succession, so I was never on that hype train. But it’s good! It’s a good comic book. Probably reads better in trades, but eh. I’m gonna keep checking it out.

SECRET AVENGERS #25 – But Rick Remender? I buy anything that man puts out. This is looking to be a strong conclusion according to the preview, with Venom adding another interesting wild card to the team, and the Avengers fight Adaptoids and a Master Mold!

UNCANNY X-MEN #10 – I wish this book had better art. Also, I can’t remember the last X-men book where the villains were consistently more interesting then the protagonists, but here we are.

WINTER SOLDIER #4 – Bucky vs a super Communist machine gun-totting gorilla. I love comics.

AVENGING SPIDER-MAN #6 – And so begins the crossover between Daredevil, Punisher, and this week’s Avenging Spider-Man. Luckily, I like all the characters and the creative team, even if I’m not overjoyed about having to buy an issue of Rucka’s Punisher.

WOLVERINE #304 – The final Jason Aaron solo Wolverine book. He’s been writing Wolverine stories, literally from the very beginning of his career, and he’s done some great, versatile work with the character off and on over the years until they eventually just handed him the book a few years ago. He’s still writing Logan in the excellent WATXM, but it’s not the same. The stories weren’t all golden, but he always had Wolverine’s voice down to a science, and tried his damnedest to push this unbreakable character in new, interesting directions. I hope this is a good epilogue, and Cullen Bunn/Paul Pellitier really bring their A-game when they take over later this month.

AMERICAS GOT POWERS #1 – I’ll give a Bryan Hitch-drawn ongoing a try, sure. I LOVE his artwork, but I haven’t really enjoyed anything he’s worked on since Ultimates 2.

SCARLET SPIDER #4 – This book is much better then it has any right to be. A Peter Parker clone with a troubled past, fighting the darkness that lies in the South. Eye-balling concept, but goddamn, Yost and Stegman are making it work. It’s a fast-paced action comic with enough real heart and character to back up it’s 90s hard-edge. Stegman is just the SHIT. He’s got McFarlene’s wild Spider-Man proportions and kinetic action, but he can actually draws humans that don’t look like anime characters with Down Syndrome. He’s amazing, and I hope he and Yost are on this book for a very long time.

CARNAGE USA #5 – This has just been ok. It’s the bad Zeb Wells who drags out 2, maaaybe 3 issues of material to 5, and I’ve never been a big fan of Crain’s dark artwork. But, it promises to have SYMBOITE ZOO ANIMALS. SYMBOITE GORILLA. SYMBOITE LION. That’s worth the price of admission alone.

    • I like your format every week and wish more people posted their pulls similarly. What’s wrong with Rucka’s Punisher? I love the book. Thanks.

  25. BQ, Touch, game of thrones season one, mad men.

A good week with two all ages books!

BQ: Nothing currently running but you can count Game of Thrones Season 1 on HBO Go and Earths Mightiest Heroes on Netflix. I just found the old 90’s Spider-man cartoon on Netflix too. Going to lose myself in some episodes of that this weekend.

  33. Really good week of comics again. Although I’m thinking of holding off until Thursday since I am extremely busy on Wednesday….But I’ve been wrong before.

  35. BQ: Anything with huell howser

Nah, but seriously, Mad Men has had three incredibly strong episodes for a fifth season. I also unashamedly enjoy New Girl despite the many reason why I shouldn’t. Community still run hot or totally flat and dull.

    And Bondi Vet

  36. Anyone see any portlandia? kind of digging that.

  37. BQ: Game of Thrones (my favorite TV show ever), Breaking Bad (just got into it) and Borgias. And Auction Hunters, I guess if I have to be honest…

    scarlet spider
    the new avengers
    shade
    uncanny xmen

bq: young justice, breaking in, new girl

  39. This week, it’s all about THE SHADE for me! I just love reading this comic book. Je suis happy camper…

BQ: Well, I caught Death Cold 2012 in March and was trapped on my couch forever, during which time I was introduced to BREAKING BAD. Good grief – talk about immediate addiction! Burned through the first 3 seasons in about 2 weeks. Thank you Netflix, great show… I also love the Adult Swim late night comedies: CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL / NTSF: SD: SUV / EAGLEHEART. They are just brilliant. And I admit, I’m still a SURVIVOR fan. Go Jay! You may have a voice that’d crack an engine block, but you’re easy on the eyes and strong enough to outplay the evil female alliance!

  40. Wow, big week for me:
