Misfits Unveil New Album Art by Arthur Suydam

As a long standing (albeit aging) punk rocker, I can attest to the fact that the Misfits are one of the greatest and most important bands in punkhistory.  After nearly a decade, the Misfits are poised to release their new album, The Devil’s Rain on October 4th.  This new album features an amazing piece of artwork, that spans the front and back cover of the record, by Arthur Suydam, who you all are familiar with from his iconic work on Marvel Zombies. It’s a classic cover in the spirit and tradition of bitchin’ horror themed record covers. Check it out:

The Misfits feature founding member Jerry Only on vocals and bass along with former Black Flag member Dez Cadena and drummer Eric “Chupacabra” Acre.  This September the band kicks off a tour, starting in Europe and then embarking on a full U.S. Tour.  For more info on the record, which is released on October 4th on Misfits Records, and tour info, go to Misfits.com

Comments

  1. sorry, but that is NOT the misfits. no glen, no misfits.

  2. never loved Jerry’s Misfits…but yeah they’re really close to the Indian Casino Tour /County Fair phase of their career.

    cool cover painting though.

  3. someone put these guys out of their misery…

  4. I recently got into the Misfits and a lot of other punk bands and love listening to them. I guess I’m not as jaded about them yet.

    • The Misfit’s are great, but this is not The Misfits.

Incidentally, I will be seeing Glen and Doyle on stage in November, plus members of Samhain!!!!!!

    • Glen was the only vessel of talent. Jerry has milked the fuck out of the name though.

I too, will be seeing Danzig Legacy, but in October at Riot Fest.

  5. Gotta agree with everyone saying this ain’t the misfits.

I’d give a lot to travel back in time to watch them play “Bullet” in their prime. Best beginning of a song ever: “1, 2, 3, 4! President’s bullet ridden body in the street! Ride, Johnny, ride!”

  6. As a “Fits fan for about 25 years, I will be seeing them on this tour. I love the Glenn Danzig phase of the group, I also love the Michale Graves phase too. I wish they would get their shit together and put a “real” Misfits band together, but it’s not going to happen. I saw the “Only Misfits” 2 years ago, and they do rock the shit out of the old stuff. For now, I will take what I can before none of them are around anymore. I wish I could get to Chicago for Riot Fest, but present economy standards won’t allow me to.
At least I can say that when I saw them two years ago, I got to see half of the Earth AD line-up. Haha. Jerry & Robo.
