Matt Kindt’s 3 Story Heads to the Screen

Yet another graphic novel property is headed for the golden boughs of screenland. According to an exclusive from heatvisionblog.com, Matt Kindt's 3 Story – The Secret History of the Giant Man from Dark Horse, a prior Book of the Month, will be produced by Warner Bros. Dustin Lance Black, known for his screenplay for Milk, and work on HBO's Big Love, will write and direct the project, with Dark Horse's Mike Richardson serving as executive producer.

Besides being a great book, this is an interesting development, because the book is fairly low key, in comparison to many of the action based comic adaptations we've been seeing lately.  From The Surrogates, to Kick-Ass, to Wanted, to Watchmen, to The Losers, to Jonah Hex, to all the big superhero films, I'd started to imagine that Hollywood was all done with anything but explosions and bullets.  I don't get all that excited about comic book movies, but this is pretty interesting.  Milk was a fantastic flick, so maybe Black will be able to weave the same magic with 3 Story.

We spoke with Matt Kindt last year on our video show from Seattle's Emerald City ComiCon just prior to the release of 3 Story.

  1. Excellent. Looking forward to this.

  2. My orginal art purchase might be a good investment

  3. wow!  really interesting choice…I can’t wait to see how they do it…pretty challenging movie to make, no real obvious "hook"…I hope they don’t change the story, which was, at times, almost a meditation than a plot…should be cool

  4. The comic fates have granted my first of three wishes.

    Giddy.
