The Marvel NOW! teasers just keep coming. Over at CBR, their exclusive reveal is the following:
I’ll welcome your best guess here, because I don’t know. But I do know that Salvador LaRocca has been locked up on Iron Man for a very long time, and he’ll either be continuing in the family or not, but I suspect it’s the latter. Obviously after his work on X-Men: Season One, Marvel are keen to do more work with Dennis Hopeless, as he’s got 2 series in his immediate future.
Next up, Comics Alliance brought us this one:
Wunderkind Sam Humphries is taking over some sort of violent series along with veteran talent Ron Garney. My guess for this one is X-Force, because of the purple and the killing. We’ll have to see.
How is Dennis Hopeless’ writing? Because I am very interested in continuing to read a Salvador Larroca-drawn book.
Going to pick up the Garney book, Planetoid has been superb and I can start to follow a creator’s work from the beginning for the first time which I haven’t been able to do before.
Your screen name is my favorite superhero secret identity name.
I’m pretty sure that Garney is Ron Garney, not Ken Garing from Planetoid. Sorry to disappoint, but hey, Ron Garney drawing X-Force would be pretty rad town.
Yeah, that too. Ken Garing ain’t that big time yet.
Garney on X Force will be awesome, but I remain underwhelmed by Humphries. His writing on the last John Carter was dragging down the amazing art.
Thanks Josh it’s my favorite as well, I got the Simonson omnibus last Christmas and wanted to make an account earlier this year so I figured hey why not Sigurd?
And drat, I guess I read the name too fast, oh well, I guess it sounds like Garney is a great artist though so its not a total buzzkill.
Wanted – Thunderbolts or Dark Avengers type thing?
Yes, that does seem to be the case in my opinion. I wonder if there will be two different T-bolt books (this, along with the “lighting” tease from earlier, or maybe I just analyze every tease as being related to Thunderbolts somehow)?
So Collen Bunn is jjust getting kicked off all the books he’s recently taken over?
I don’t think there’s been any confirmation that Cullen Bunn is on or off any books due to Marvel Now.
Boy you know what – NOW is taking a long time. Whatever “killers” is – its January… this isn’t Marvel NOW – It’s Marvel Q4-Q1
Hope thats X-force. Then Rick Remender gets to stay on Secret Avengers, yay.
I heard that Remender’s probably leaving Secret Avengers, which really sucks. His work on it has been really good. From what I heard, Nick Spencer may be taking over the book again. Not too thrilled about that since his Fear Itself tie-in’s were pretty bad. We shall see, I guess.
Yep. These are definitely teasers.
Kind of wish they told us what they were so we could criticize it already 😉
So is it pretty official then that Remender is Off X-Force after this next arc? Seems alot of people have been mentioning this but i havent seen it publicized anywhere
It’s rumored that he is off this and Secret Avengers and he has already left Venom. With the new books announced (Captain America and Uncanny Avengers) I wouldn’t be surprised if the rumors are true. Gotta balance your work load. As much as I love Secret Avengers and X-Force, I feel like it’s best to get out at the top of the game while your work will still be remembered for how good it is/was versus overstaying your welcome and running out of ideas, which seems to happen to many creators.
I think instead of continuing Uncanny X-force with another writer it should just end with the Final Execution arc. This was always Remender’s book and it would feel weird without him writing it.
I figure that those books are making too much money to just stop. If they can wring a few more dollars outta em and test out their newish writers that makes more sense than just cutting that revenue stream.
Wanted – Heroes for Hire?
Killers-X-force is only thing that makes sense as of this moment to me.
So this is like, the third straight teaser where we could say it is a new X-Force book. I can’t wait for Marvel to release the solicitations for December so when can finally figure this out.
The first teasers made sense, because we had characters to associate them with (“Soldier”=Cap, “Invincible”=Iron Man, “Indestructible”=Hulk, ect…). Now we’re just getting words that are supposed to mean something=”Survive”, “Killers”, “Wanted”–without context, these are just words and I’m not interested. for me, “Marvel” could=Fail.
Is anyone thinking Wanted could be Runaways? What would we think of a Runaways book drawn by Larroca?
I thought the same thing. Sounds like a great idea to me. I don’t know enough about d. hopeless to make a call on his part of it.
I think these teasers are much better than the earlier ones. If you are 100% sure what the book is, there is no point to the campaign. Writing “Invincible” is no different than writing “Iron Man” really. But these last few get you thinking. I think it’s pretty interesting.
