“How do you like your pull list?”
“Medium rare.”
“Huh. An aristocrat.”

Mind The Gap #1

By Jim McCann, Rodin Esquejo & Sonia Oback

One of the most hotly anticipated new series debuts this week from Jim McCann, Rodin Esquejo and Sonia Oback with Mind The Gap from Image Comics.  Continuing Image Comics tear through 2012, Mind The Gap is a new ongoing series that promises to deliver a thriller unlike anything we’ve seen in comics to date.

Earth Two #1

By James Robinson and Nicola Scott

I am a man who likes what he likes, and I not deny it. I do not try to like things which I do not like, as it has often proven futile and quite tiring. I like James Robinson writing the Justice Society characters, whatever form they might take. I like Nicola Scott drawing… comic books. Therefore, there is a good chance I will like this book. Tea and biscuits for everyone!

Fury MAX #1

By Garth Ennis & Goran Parlov

Hey, remember that first Fury MAX series by Garth Ennis? Remember how everyone lost their shit over it? Remember how it was rumored to be the reason why the supposed George Clooney Nick Fury movie died in development hell? Good times. That mini-series was awesome. I can’t wait to read more adventures of Ennis’ ornery and profane Nick Fury.

Comments

  1. I’m thinking Earth-2 could be the only thing getting me into NuDC – even then, I’ll be tradewaiting it.

  2. Can we pimp other projects here too? Because my buddy Mike’s comic UNMASKED: NEW AGE HEROES comes out this week. Exclusively through Graphicly!

  3. Ennis writing Fury Max is playing to his strengths.

  4. I’m pretty sure The Peacemaker was Clooney’s Nick Fury, if anyone can even remember that movie.

Anyways, Ennis on Nick or Frank is always a treat.

  5. I meant the 1997 film Peacemaker was Clooney’s Nick Fury movie in all but name.
It’s like how The Outlaw Josey Wales was basically a Jonah Hex movie even if the intention wasn’t there.
I recommend that Jonah Hex fans who hated the 2010 movie (all of them) watch The Outlaw Josey Wales and just pretend Clint Eastwood has a giant scar on his face.

    • Bounty Hunter: You’re wanted Wales.

Josey Wales: Reckon I’m right popular. You a bounty hunter?

Bounty Hunter: A man’s got to do something for a living these days.

Josey Wales: Dyin’ ain’t much of a livin’, boy.

    • Instead we got Dragonballs and Mario cannon ships and Will Arnett with a mustache for some reason.

    • @a.j.howard09 and TomiH, I have to see this film now. I can’t remember it and it sounds epic.

  6. Try out the Skeleton Key Color Special if your store has it!! That needs the spotlight. $3.50 cheap.

  7. All good choices.

I’ve decided to forego any more DC, as much as I’ll miss Nicola Scott.

So you must’ve read my mind. I’m choosing Fury MAX.

Mind the Gap, mind you, looks excellent, so it’s possible I’ll go with that instead.

There’re also a few enticing Marvel minis this week: Hulk Smash Avengers, Black Widow, etc.

  8. I’m trying all three of these! All are interesting but I think Ennis will kill on Nick Fury.

  9. I wanna get Fury MAX sooo bad, but I still got comics I gotta pick up from 2 weeks ago. Maybe I’ll just set this in my box and buy it when I can which, thanks to Av,X won’t be soon.

  10. Plan on getting all 3. Love me some #1s and these look like a mighty good selection.

  11. I’ve been dying for an Earth 2 book (I love the JSA). Funny how the best / bravest custom designs are found in this book.

  12. Just an FYI to any of those looking to read the original series, it’s simply titled ‘Fury’.
