Empowered, Vol. 7

By Adam Warren

Any time a new volume of Empowered comes out, we all need to stop, buy it, and take a few hours to just sit and take it all in. Adam Warren’s masterpiece continues into a seventh volume and it doesn’t matter if you’ve read all of the preceding 6 volumes or this is your first. Empowered is some of the funniest and unique comics around.

Cow Boy: A Boy and His Horse HC

By Nate Cosby & Chris Eliopoulos

This book is not what you’d expect. If you’re not sure if you want to buy the book, you can actually just read it on the web right now. But get just a few pages into it that way, and get good and hooked, and you’ll want to read the real book, from Archaia who always put together beautiful packages. Take Boyd into your heart, and  hit the open range.

Superman Family Adventures #1

By Art Baltazar & Franco

The much loved all-ages book Tiny Titans may be gone, but the creative team is back with Superman Family Adventures #1, which promises to bring some irreverent fun to Metropolis. That’s right: fun. Remember that? It’s what you’re supposed to be having when you read comic books.

Both Cow Boy and Superman Family seem fun, will check them out! Funny how they use the pre-reboot superboy and Krypto. Hah!

I read the first volume and don’t really get Empowered’s appeal, though.

I missed the bandwagon with Tiny Titans unfortunately, but hoping to make it up with Superman Family after hearing Baltazar and Franco talk about it on Word Balloon recently. Let’s hope it stands its ground and gets more of them young whippersnappers into comics :)

  3. Tiny Titans last issue had the best drawing of Bruce Sprinsteen New52 Superman ever.

  4. Ian says:

I had no idea a new volume of Empowered was even due out, definitely going to be picking that up.

Did anybody try “ami comi #1 wonder woman” with art by amanda conner? Wondering what folks thought about it. I seem to like anything she works on, other than “the pro” that was kinda gross to me :)

7 volumes of Empowered? Adam Warran must love drawing arses

  7. Thanks to this light week (only like 5 books or something), I think I’m going to splurge on the Mosieur Jean graphic novel by Dupey. Thanks Gregorian monks, I couldn’t have done it without you 5th Wednesday!

  8. Mark_S says:

I’m looking forward to Empowered, she’s the Charlie Brown of comics, always trying, never getting there, but always trying.

  13. Hmmm….What should I read?

A comic where clothes are taken off….or a Superman comic by the Tiny Titans crew?

Well there’s also Chip Kidd’s “Batman: Death By Design”….Looks amazing.
