Deadline reports this evening that Kevin Costner has signed on to play Pa Kent in Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel movie.
Costner joins Diane Lane, who's been cast in the role of Martha Kent, and Henry Cavill, the world's new Superman.
It's funny to say, but Costner actually has some pretty big shoes to fill. If you ask this Superman fan, Smallville's John Schneider pretty much owns the role in live action. In the same way that Christopher Reeve will always be the quintessential Superman. That doesn't mean that this isn't another top notch and inventive casting choice in what looks to be a very promising reboot. And I do mean reboot, if the rumors are to be believed.
Superman: The Man of Steel hits theaters in December 2012.

Wow so many Oscar Award Winning Actors/Actresses in Superhero movies premiering in 2012, that year is looking more & more like a Superhero filled Oscars Show for 2013. Can’t Wait!!!!

This would be the perfect Ma and Pa Kent for a Superboy movie. Superman though? I’m skeptical.

Oh great. Now it’s just gonna be two hours of Clark playing baseball while learning about Native American culture. Either that or possibly conquering a world made entirely of water. A Waterworld, if you will.
I’m actually pretty impressed with that choice.
I really like this choice. I’m not a big Superman fan by any stretch, but I can see it. Costner can definitely pull off a hardworking, moral farmer. Seems like a great choice to me.
I like the idea of Keving Costner as Pa Kent, but the fact I wanna bang Ma Kent is a bit weird, don’t you think?.
Not a complaint though. Diane Lane is avery fine actress and I respect her as such… but she’s such of hot mama to be Ma Kent.

@kidCharlemagne: Whom?. Costner?. No, man!. He’s actually a good actor. He was amazing in Dance with Wolves, Robin Hood and some other flicks.
Now that I think of it, I haven’t seen any of his latest films so I’m not sure about his acting now, however I still think his good, and Snyder is a good director, so I think it’ll be great.
