iFanboy User Makes iFanboy Staffer’s Dream Come True

Awhile ago I wrote about some obscure animals I’d like to see made into superheroes. The post was popular enough that I came back and did a round of villains. Much to my delight, iFanboy user DC took it upon himself to bring my rambling descriptions to life! Or at least, to 2-D artistic life. Regardless, while I may not have heralded DC’s awesomeness at the time, I certainly intend to rectify that oversight right now. His designs are so spot on I’m tempted to start writing the script for issue #1, if only iFanboy didn’t control the rights to everything I create in perpetuity. I’m just like Siegel and Shuster over here, except for the whole Cleveland thing (I’m a Cincinnati guy, myself). But I digress, this is supposed to be a showcase for DC’s art and so it shall be!

In order of appearance: Mantis Shrimp, Megatherium, The Queen, Titanis, Hoatzin, Mimic Octopus, The Captain, and Water Bear.

Be sure to check out DC’s blog, A Sketchy Situation, for more artistic eye-candy.

  1. I really like the Titanis design. These are all interesting. Well done.

  2. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

Water Bear miniseries. Now. My new favorite rogue.

  3. When does the first issue drop? This is great.

  4. This make me that much sadder that I can’t draw. I could crank out a water bear story in a heartbeat!

  5. Did anyone else open this page and immediately think ‘Ryan Ottley’?

This definitely needs to become an Image ongoing. Use those iFanboy connections!

  6. Love Hoatzin, so weird!

  7. Rad.

  8. These are awesome! Nice job.

  9. Who’s the us and who’s the them? If Ifanboy the us and the users the them? Is Cincinatti the us and Cleveland the them? Are obscure animals the us and the opposite of obscure animals aka non-obscure animals them?

  10. Aw shucks, thank you. Though methinks this might be a ploy to get me to draw you a Brachiolope…which I was planning to do once I catch up with Science…Sort Of.

  11. not bad

  12. What a weird wonderful world it would be if humans could have the powers of a Water Bear.
