iFanboy Upstarts: Marcio Takara

Some artists take a while to mature into star material, while others are stars the first time you lay your eyes on them. They may not know it; heck, the fans may not know it. But it’s there.

Based in Rio de Janeiro, artist Marcio Takara has spent the majority of his young career drawing super-heroes for Boom! Studios. From early work on The Incredibles to his current assignment drawing Incorruptible. Between all that he’s done a one-off issue of Jay Faerber’s Dynamo 5 and stories in two of Marvel’s kids line of books, but it’s Incorruptible and The Incredibles that show off his work best. And his work is dramatic for its range: I’d wager my lunch money that someone reading Incorruptible wouldn’t recognize his work in The Incredibles as the same artist. While an artist having a range is something taken for granted with big talents like Stuart Immonen, seeing this is a younger talent is surprising and a portent of what could come. Plus, Takara gets points for handling a monthly book like Incorruptible without any major delays.

Here’s a sample of Marcio’s work and tell us in the comments where you’d like to see him next.
