Great Moments in Comics History: X-Men #112

Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #112 (1978)

Magneto plays a mean game of “why are you hitting yourself?”

Comments

  1. Gotta love how inconsistent Wolverine’s healing factor is. Walking away from an explosion or sentinel blast? No problem. One punch to the noggin though? Out like a light.

    • No one said the healing factor helped with concussions! 😛

    • This was a very early Wolverine story. His powers have grown considerably over time. I think he was more interesting back in the early days…

    • We’re taking this seriously? Jk, but yeah good point, walks away from explosions and being burnt to a crisp & shot in the head but gets knocked out by one punch? Ahh, but these are mutants we’re talking about and they’re powers evolve with time plus a punch being forced by Magneto’s magnetism combined with its momentum fueled by Logan’s Adamantium would make this much more than a standard punch……if we’re gonna wax poetic here.

  2. Those are odd sound effects too.

  3. Magneto might flip-flop on his allegiances, but he’s always had a consistent ‘stance’.

It’s tougher than it looks, you try to stand with your feet and arms apart like that at your office and see how seriously people take you.

  4. It’s Superman’s 75th birthday. Why is this not a panel from Action Comics #1?

  5. ” what are you talking about? I’m not touching you. Am I? No I’m not touching you. Why are you punching yourself? Huh? I’m not touching you”

My sons fifth grade class at recess….and Magneto screwing with Logan.

  6. I laughed out loud at this one. After Schism and AvX, Magneto should do this to Logan at least once a month.

  7. If this happened today we’d see Wolverine stab himself and see how gory it is.

  8. Well, at least he didn’t punch himself in the nads repeatedly.

  9. If Mark Millar or Garth Ennis had written this Wolverine would have given himself The Shocker.
