You’d think comics would leave an impression on kids today but what about the 1940s?
Apparently you could steal identities, kill random people, smoke/drink, and a lot of other stuff and get away with it. But show a bunch of superheroes punching each other with no repercussions and HOLD ON! You’re gonna get in trouble.
Wonder Woman only helps those who can help her in return.
“Oh look, children, your orphanage is on fire. Say, I need someone to keep the Wonder Cave clean. If you were to clean up every other day, I could put out that fire…”
If I recall correctly, I think that woman ends up coming back from South America a few issues later and this situation ends up (un-surprisingly) causing trouble for Wonder Woman.
I’m confused. Does Wonder Woman come to Man’s World with a ton of cash? How is taking this woman’s place at her job going to send her to South America faster? And if WW is just saying that she’ll foot the bill for airfare, where did she get the cash? Themyscira? How did they know what kind of currency was used in the outside world? I’m over thinking this.
Does anyone know if there’s a good biography of Wonder Woman’s creator, William Moulton Marston? Or if there are any comics history books that have sections on him? He seems to have led a pretty interesting life.
fantastic!
It looks like that lasso of truth only applies to everyone else
oh snap!
A Mad Men reference? In my Golden Age Wonder Woman Great Moments in Comics? It’s more likely than you think!
On that note, Maggie Siff would make for a terrific Wonder Woman.
Boy, the lie that woman’s fiance told her to get out of a wedding just backfired on him.

I’ve been reading quite a bit of golden age stuff recently and I’m pretty surprised by the number of heroes that outright kill people regularly.

I love broken Golden Age Logic:
literally the first woman outside Themyscira that WW comes into contact with also just so happens to be identical to her in every way.

If not, that’s a pretty good story arch for “Earth Two!”

In the next few panels WW pulls out a wad of cash and gives it to Diana and sends her to South America so WW can assume her identity.
@conor WW has a wad of cash somehow,so I should just go with it. Check.
Why didn’t Wonder Woman just fly her to South America? How come identity theft is the only option?
She needed to get a job in the hospital so she could watch over Steve Trevor.

I don’t know the answer to any of the questions posed about the above panel, but I do know that panel is just absurdly hilarious.
