BOOM! Behind the Scenes: HIGHER EARTH #4

This week, BOOM! have shared some pages from this week’s Higher Earth #4, written by Sam Humphries, with art by Francesco Biagini, and colors by Andrew Crossley.

The most interesting thing about these pages is just how loose Biagini keeps his pencils, as if they’re really just thumbnails or suggestions for where the final lines will go, showing a lot of confidence in his inking. Or possibly impatience with his pencils. The point is, all artists do what works best for them via trial and error, and no process is the same.

Also, this Frazer Irving cover is the business.

Comments

  1. I love these features. I like to write in my spare time as a hobby, and to share with friends. Recently, I got the crazy idea to try my hand at comic-booking and these features help me re-evaluate the way I’m doing things.

The layouts are powerful and evocative, they express everything with few lines.

I prefer the black and white art to the colored one, though.
