Comments

  1. No offense to Daredevil, but since it won Best New Series, Best Continuing or Limited Series should have gone to Severed.

What’s more, best cont. and/or limited series should be separate categories all together.

    • Severed was spectacular! My wife loved it but doesn’t even want to try DareDevil. On a side note that’s somewhat related, my wife has loved the new Hawkeye series. I think that some titles appeal to a wider audience and I wonder why that isn’t taken into account when the awards are given out. That being said, I doubt I’ll drop DareDevil any time soon and that Allred issue should get it’s own little award 🙂

    • @markavo You get no argument from me on DareDevil. It is an excellent title, I just don’t think it should win in two categories based on a mere technicality.

  2. As much as I’ve loved DareDevil I’d like to have seen Batman get some love too.

  3. Wow thats got to be the first award Fear Itself has won right?

  4. So glad Pichelli won most promising new talent. she deserves it

  5. I think I like the art on Hawkeye better than the art on Batwoman.

  6. I like Daredevil but I kind of wish these awards didn’t acknowledge a publisher’s renumbering as a “new series”. It’s great that it won for best continuing series but it would be nice if the new categories were left open to highlight some of the truly new stuff coming out, especially considering how tough launching a book can be.

    • I was thinking the same thing Nick. Maybe the category should be renamed “Best new series with new charcters”, or “Best new IP & series”, or something like that. I don’t believe this is the first time this has happened in that category, and from everything I’ve heard Daredevil is very deserving of awards, but it would have been nice for this to highlight some of the other comics that truly just started coming out in the last year.

  7. So, if Mark Waid and J.H. Williams were to collaborate, the Executive Committee would cream their pants…?

And a big congrats to Sara Pichelli!

  8. I must be the only person on here not loving Daredevil.

  9. Maybe Daredevil doesn’t deserve all this praise (I doubt it), but these prizes are like this. Always…
But I’m glad it’s getting some recognition.

  10. Can’t say I disagree with any of these choices. So happy to see Kate Beaton get a lot of love and hopefully it leads to even bigger things down the line.

Now we need Meredith Gran to win some awards for Octopus Pie and her Adventure Time comics to get some bling.

  11. Hark! A Vagrant is a great comic. It just makes me laugh in an Arrested Development kind of way. Really clever humor. I’m glad to see Kate Beaton get some recognition for her work.

  12. The lack of image on here is an oversight to me, but I’ll just look at Chris Eliopoulos’ win there as one for his million years on Savage Dragon. 😉
