ALERT: Your East Coast Comics Might Be Delayed This Week

We have learned that if you live on the east coast of the United States then there is a chance that you won't be getting your comics on Wednesday. We were contacted by a couple of comic book stores alerting us to an e-mail sent to them from Diamond Comic Distributors:

Dear Diamond Plattsburgh Customer:

Please be advised that, due to severe winter weather conditions in Plattsburgh, your shipment for this week will be delayed.

Diamond regrets any inconvenience this delay creates for you or your customers. If you have additional questions regarding this advisory, please contact your Diamond Customer Service Representative. Thank you.

DIAMOND COMIC DISTRIBUTORS

As far as we are know, North America is serviced by four Diamond Comics distribution centers, and the Plattsburgh, NY center services the entire east coast. There was severe weather — again — in the northeast over the weekend. We got heavy wind and rain down in New York City, but it appears that they got more snow up north in Plattsburgh, and it was enough to effect the comics shipments.

What does this mean for you?

We're not 100% sure but it is speculated that stores that currently receive Tuesday delivery will get their books on Wednesday and stores that usually get Wednesday delivery won't get their books until Thursday. We urge you to call before heading over to your store.

@dgazzuolo  Yay.. West Coast.  But as far as Diamond is concerned it just means they’re going to suck less in the west and more in the east this week.

  3. “Professor, would you say it’s time for everyone to panic?”

    “Yes I would, Kent.”

lol it’s 75 and sunny in texas right now, woohoo!

  13. Not to sound like I’m gloating but…..my LCS says I will get comics on Wednesday. Instead of using the Tuesday system to get ready in advance, they’ll just have to set everything up an hour before open. Which is what they always did before Dimond changed it. So I’ll be getting comics tomorrow….sorry everyone else.

  14. Cats are trying to reignite the 1990′s Coast War up in this thread.

We all know how that war ended . . .

Comics cannot afford to lose anymore heroes.

Haha.  This is kind of funny; I live on the east coast and went home to the west coast this week for spring break. So that’s pretty awesome.

  17. Jeff Reid JeffR (@JeffRReid) says:

I haven’t really seen anyone on Twitter complain that they didn’t get their comics because of a delay by Diamond. Did any shops see a delay? Were comics on the shelves on the east coast this morning/afternoon?

  18. Conor Kilpatrick conor (@cskilpatrick) says:

@JeffR  My store got their books up later than normal, but it’s a Tuesday store so they got theirs Wednesday morning, as we speculated would happen.

  19. Jeff Reid JeffR (@JeffRReid) says:

@conor  Gotcha. Glad to hear it was only a minor disruption then.
