Comments

  1. He sang a song as on he rode,
    His guns hung at his hips
    He rode into a cattle town,
    A smile upon his lips
    He stopped and walked into a bar and laid his money down
    But his mother’s words echoed again;
    “Don’t take your guns to town, son
    Leave your guns at home, Bill
    Don’t take your guns to town.”

  2. I was talking to my mom this morning and she said, “Johnny Cash isn’t supposed to die.”

    I feel the same way.

    Goddamn, this really hurts.

  3. “And when I hear that lonesome whistle
    I hang my head and cry.”

    It’s funny, we were listening to Cash in the office yesterday, and there are 3 other people in there and we couldn’t have more different musical tastes, but everyone was happy to be listening to Johnny. I think it’s great that even yesterday, as he lay in a hospital bed, we were enjoying his music still.

    He outlasted them all. He lived longer than any of his contemporaries, and oddly enough, thanks to MTV, kids know who he is today. That’s a great thing. Cooler than Elvis.
